Summary:

+ In the Plant and under the direction of a Foreperson or other supervisor/manager, assists the craftsman and/or independently performs the basic maintenance, repair or mechanical adjustment work involved in varied types of buildings, building facilities and/or building utilities.

Examples of Work:

+ Change oil in mechanical equipment, change air handling unit filters, grease motors and pump bearings, change belts, adjust thermostats, tightens nuts and bolts, adjust pulleys, etc.

+ Perform equipment maintenance on the peripheral components and other equipment.

+ Make field measurements and visual inspections.

+ Perform required maintenance at any campus building, as required.

+ Engage as a preventative team member to complete maintenance activities with other preventative maintenance Repairers and assist as needed/directed.

+ Complete preventative maintenance set ups, leak checks, and quality checks on equipment components.

+ Complete both scheduled and unscheduled or sporadic preventative maintenance activities, as needed.

+ Collect and record data for the preventative maintenance program.

+ Assist in reporting and analyzing preventative maintenance information.

+ Stay current on all shop related processes and procedures.

+ Utilize computers for maintaining required maintenance logs and necessary trainings.

Required Experience:

+ One (1) year of experience in work involving the inspection, repair and general maintenance of household, office, and other equipment, fixtures, fittings, appliances, machinery, furnishings, and buildings.

LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position. CDL Appointees may be required to possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and applicable endorsements for the class and type of vehicles being operated.

NOTE: The responsibility for ensuring that employees possess the required motor vehicle license, commensurate with the class and type of vehicles they operate, rests with the Appointing Authority.

Work Hours (Please note that the currently listed shifts and availability of same are subject to change to meet the operational needs of the department):

+ Potential Schedule 1: Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

+ Potential Schedule 2: Sunday through Thursday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

+ Potential Schedule 3: Monday through Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

+ In addition to regularly scheduled work shifts, the successful candidate must possess the ability to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime hours when required.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary & Benefits:

+ In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is IFPTE: Range 11, Step 1 ($40,661.15 ) - Step 4 ($46,021.49) .
