    Special Education Teacher | $45/hr | Southwood Elementary | Kansas City, MO | Nov 2025–May 2026

     

    Amergis Educational Staffing is hiring a full-time Special Education Teacher to support a self-contained SEL program at Southwood Elementary in Kansas City, Missouri. This position begins November 3, 2025, and runs through May 22, 2026, with a 40-hour work week.

    Position Overview:

    + Modality: Special Education Teacher

    + Grade Level: Elementary (Self-Contained, SEL Program)

    + Support Type: Group instruction with classroom support

    + Schedule: Monday–Friday, availability required between 7:00 AM–4:00 PM

    + Duration: 7 months

    + Start Date: November 3, 2025

    + Interview: Virtual or in-person

    + Pay Rate: $45/hr

    + Campus: Southwood Elementary (final campus TBD based on experience)

    Responsibilities:

    + Develop and deliver group and individual instruction aligned with curriculum and IEP service minutes

    + Collaborate with team members, administrators, and building coordinators

    + Manage student behavior per PBIS, IEP, and district guidelines

    + Communicate with parents/guardians and maintain compliance documentation

    + Facilitate IEP and evaluation meetings, instructional assistant meetings, and assessments

    + Supervise instructional assistants and participate in professional learning

    + Perform additional duties to support school operations

    Requirements:

    + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred)

    + Active Missouri Teaching License in Special Education

    + Minimum 1 year of teaching experience (preferred)

    + Certifications: Mod/Severe or Mild/Mod per MO DESE requirements

    + Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred

    + CPR certification, TB clearance, and health certificate as applicable

    + Must meet all federal, state, and district onboarding requirements
