    Yampa Valley Regional Airport Building and Grounds Maintenance Technician

    SUMMARY:

    Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on airport buildings and grounds; investigates requests for maintenance services and repairs; troubleshoots and resolves a variety of moderately difficult plumbing, mechanical, electrical, carpentry, fire prevention, security system and building access issues; performs semi-skilled work on airport grounds and landscaped areas, including maintenance and repairs to airport runways and taxiways; serves as a project liaison for contractors working on facility maintenance, repair or construction projects; and performs other related duties as assigned.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    •Performs semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on airport buildings and grounds, including runways and taxiways.

    •Responds to requests from airport employees for maintenance/repair services; inspects buildings and performs semi-skilled work to make minor repairs; refers more complex repairs or maintenance to higher-skilled staff.

    •Performs semi-skilled carpentry work; assists in hanging doors, pouring concrete, laying flooring, installing partitions and drop ceilings, repairing door closers, furniture, and roofs, and performing other general carpentry work.

    •Performs semi-skilled plumbing repairs; repairs leaking faucets and unstops clogged lines; assists in the installation of water and sewer lines.

    •Performs semi-skilled painting, glazing, plastering, masonry, metalwork, welding, electrical, mechanical, and related maintenance trades work.

    •Performs semi-skilled electrical work on appliances and HVAC equipment; installs and replaces light fixtures, outlets, bulbs, and fuses.

    •Maintains and performs semi-skilled repairs on locks, automotive equipment, boilers, and other mechanical devices.

    •Maintains airport runways and taxiways; sprays chemicals for weed control; repairs and maintains systems in the airport terminal and parking lot, including luggage belts and parking gates.

    •Performs routine maintenance and general support work such as required; sets up and takes down voting booths during elections; provides public access into various county buildings in accordance with schedules; assembles and installs modular furniture; performs snow and ice removal during winter months; unloads delivery trucks.

    •Performs routine maintenance or repairs on a variety of motorized tools, equipment, and vehicles.

    •Assists skilled workers or contractors with more complex facility maintenance, replacement or construction projects; may participate in project planning, design, cost estimating, and scheduling; may serve as a project coordinator for smaller, less complex projects.

    •Requisitions, stores, and distributes supplies and materials as authorized; maintains an inventory of supplies.

    •Uses a computer to maintain files and records.

    •Delivers and/or picks up items at other locations.

    •May perform custodial duties in the absence of custodial staff.

    •May assist with airport operations, safety, and security as assigned.

    •May train less experienced staff on the proper maintenance and repair of building systems.

    •Performs other related duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

    Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

    Education:

    Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.

    Experience:

    Three years of progressively responsible experience performing unskilled or semi-skilled building and grounds maintenance work including routine maintenance and repair of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, landscape, and irrigation systems. Depending on the assignment, experience performing commercial airport maintenance and/or operations may be required.

    Experience:

    Vocational training/education may substitute for the above-required experience on a year for year basis to a maximum of two years.

    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:

    •Valid Colorado Driver License may be required to operate a County vehicle.

    CURRENT 2025 BENEFITS FOR SEASONAL/TEMPORARY EMPLOYEE:
