Newtown Savings Bank 2026 Summer Internship Opportunities
Newtown Savings Bank is seeking college students to fill our Summer Internship opportunities. Our Corporate Office is in the historic center of Newtown, CT, and we have Retail branch locations in the surrounding communities. Our paid Internship Program offers a 12-week immersion into a career in Banking starting in late May through mid-August. Interns will be provided meaningful projects, collaborate with, and be mentored by experienced Banking professionals, and could earn college credit while building a professional resume. Planned programs include interaction with Executive Leadership, professional development, and an intern cohort experience to build friendships and professional relationships. We are seeking current college students pursuing degrees in Finance, Business, Accounting, Management, Data Analytics, Risk Management, Information Technology, Marketing and Communications.
Internships Opportunities:
All positions are onsite, full-time 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday
Preference will be given to individuals who can commit to the entire 12-week period.
Credit – Commercial Credit Internship
+ Responsibilities to include a variety of activities in support of the Commercial Credit Department. The Credit Department is responsible for assessing the creditworthiness of individuals and businesses who apply for commercial loans and monitoring the financial condition of existing borrowers. The intern will gain hands-on experience with Credit Administration, working with Analysts to spread and analyze audited, reviewed, and company prepared financials and tax returns, which includes calculating various analytical ratios testing liquidity, leverage, debt to income, and debt service coverage.
+ Internship Requirements: Current college student majoring in a Finance related field (must have knowledge of both financial and managerial accounting) relevant work or internship experience, strong analytical skills, strong attention to detail, working knowledge of MS Office suite, proficient in Word and Excel, strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to learn and multi-task.
Risk Management – Risk Management Internship
+ Responsibilities to include projects assisting Risk Management and Information Security activities: supporting Business Continuity Plans for each business unit, preparing and developing reports, completing the annual validation process, along with other special risk projects.
+ Internship Requirements: Current college student majoring, or minoring, in Risk Management or Technology, relevant work or internship experience, strong business writing and verbal communication skills, strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills, ability to learn and multi-task, and ability to work effectively with different levels of organization, which requires tact, efficiency, diplomacy and confidentiality.
Finance – Finance Internship
+ Responsibilities to include assisting the team with daily reconciliation and balancing activities, partnering with operation departments and branch teams to resolve differences, assisting with ad-hoc projects related to reconciliations and close management, assisting with ad-hoc projects related to ALCO and CECL activities, and shadow the Wire Department.
+ Internship Requirements: Current college student majoring in Finance or Accounting, potential CPA designation goals, relevant work or internship experience, organized, detail oriented, ability to work independently and with team, strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
Retail Lending – Data Analyst Internship
+ Responsibilities to include assisting all areas of loan origination, including secondary markets, operations, and loan servicing, to analyze data and processes to identify efficiencies, opportunities of enhanced profitability, and will perform yearly time study of the loan manufacturing process.
+ Internship Requirements: Current college student majoring in Data Analytics or Finance, relevant work or internship experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to learn and multi-task, experience in statistical and quantitative analysis and predictive models, strong skills with Excel and Microsoft Office, ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
Bank Operations – Operations Internship
+ Responsibilities to include assisting the various areas of Operations: Deposit Operations, Electronic Banking, Digital Banking, Reporting and Core Systems. Learn firsthand various aspects of the financial system, online banking, cash management, ACH processing, and Card payments. Exposure to decisions surrounding banking enhancements, assist in the testing and rollout of new features, and see how data from various channels is analyzed and utilized.
+ Internship Requirements: Current college student majoring in Business, Finance, or Information Technology, relevant work or internship experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to learn and multi-task, experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Marketing – Marketing & Community Relations Internship
+ Responsibilities to include various Marketing and Community Relations projects: event coordination, public relations, social media, promotions, competitive analysis, digital merchandising, press releases, and other creative work.
+ Internship Requirements: Current college student majoring in Marketing or Communications, relevant work or internship experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to learn and multi-task, experience with Microsoft Office and Canva is preferred. Experience with social media channels, website content management, and email solutions is a plus. Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking desired.
