    ROLE SUMMARY:

    Under general supervision, the Automation Specialist is responsible for implementing and maintaining the plant's automation processes. They participate in the design and execution of automation integrations, as well as maintaining and improving equipment and systems. In collaboration with the Continuous Improvement department, they analyze various performance indicators and lead initiatives related to the collection of critical production data. They are responsible for managing several aspects of equipment improvement and investment projects, including determining project scope, obtaining quotes, and project execution.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*denotes essential job functions): .

     

    + Responsible for developing required technical deliverables for all process control systems, including control hardware and software, controller logic, human-machine interfaces (HMI), cybersecurity compliance, and plant-wide data acquisition.

    + Lead or assist in developing control system specifications, P&IDs, cause and effect diagrams, control schematics, alarm documentation/rationalization, cybersecurity controls, and instrument specifications.

    + Collaborate with Quality to follow industry best practices for commissioning and validation to ensure robust project design.

    + Collaborate with the project team to integrate code and safety requirements during design.

    + Maintain effective communication with Operations management regarding project progress and support.

    + Analyze performance indicators to prioritize preventive and corrective actions to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.

    + Support the technical team in improving preventive and predictive maintenance.

    + Participate in upgrading equipment through capital and continuous improvement projects.

    + Interface with the head of technical engineering regarding the introduction of new equipment. Ensure smooth information transfer between departments from introduction to the end of equipment life.

    + Support qualification/commissioning efforts and ensure necessary support for complete commissioning.

    + Evaluate the impact of change requests from an engineering and automation perspective.

    + Provide support in automation and process control during daily operations

    + Continuously update technical knowledge to remain a subject matter expert (SME) and a technical resource.

    + Develop customized reports and data analysis using OSI PI and Power BI software applications to optimize manufacturing and packaging operations.

    + Provide technical and administrative support to manufacturing and distribution teams in areas such as PLCs, microprocessors, automation, and instrumentation. Allen Bradley Software, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View Studio, RS Logix 500 Perform any other related tasks as required.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    + Diploma or Bachelor's degree in automation and control, electrical engineering, or a related field.

    + Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in automation and control engineering.

    + Experience in a manufacturing environment and validation skills are a plus.

    + Advanced knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA, Drives, Power Flex, Internet of Things, and other control applications.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    + Knowledge of Rockwell FTView SE is a mandatory requirement for this position.

    + Studio 5000 software.

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent team player, and interpersonal communication skills.

    + Forward-thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas.

    + Ability to multitask.

    + Demonstrate good logic, analytical, and diagnostic skills.

    + Flexible to support plant afterhours.
