    Job Overview

     

    The FPS and SCS Director of Contracting is responsible for system wide agreements, for Fairview Pharmacy Services (FPS) and M Health Fairview Shared Clinical Services (SCS). The Director will set strategy, provide departmental and individual leadership of the contracts department team members, as well as ensuring tactical execution such as timely development, negotiation, and execution of a high volume of business-critical contracts. The Director will be a primary point of contact for business leaders and contract owners in Pharmacy and Shared Clinical Services on all contracts related topics and will operate a hub and spoke model office ensuring that cross functional connections are made, and agreements are in the proper contracts process across the enterprise. Additionally, the Director and the contracts department will be responsible for novel and complex (including high cost) therapy agreements such as CAR-T, PBM, 340B, and more. The Director will ensure training of all new hires and ensure up to date policies and procedures for Pharmacy as well as system level consistency. This role will lead contract negotiation responsibility for system wide and Pharmacy agreements as needed.

    Job Expectations:

    + Lead a team of highly qualified, motivated individual contributors and managers to support all FPS and SCS agreements in scope, with a focus on professional development of team members.

    + Lead a scalable, agile, and transparent contracts department to provide a positive customer experience (both internal and external) with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement.

    + Create and manage contracting support, in collaboration in departmental leadership, for Fairview Pharmacy Solutions.

    + Partner with contracts and vendor management senior leadership to create and deploy strategic initiatives to provide best in class service and tactical execution.

    + Partner with contracts and vendor management peers and leader(s) to ensure collaboration and consistent direction between teams within the Contracts and Vendor Management Departments.

    + Serve as point of contact for FPS and SCS senior leadership and business leaders, primary liaison and point of contact to Fairview legal department.

    + Ensure sharp skill set in area of responsibility, including some individual contributor work to draft, negotiate, analyze, and execute agreements within scope and area of responsibility, and collaborate with contract owners in the business to meet critical contracting and legal needs.

    + Triage and direct out of scope agreements to appropriate contracting departments or business stakeholders across the enterprise.

    + Create and deploy process improvements needed within the department and collaborate with system colleagues to create and ensure consistent customer experience.

    + Recommend, gain approval for, implement and utilize efficient processes and technological developments to advance contracting and departmental objectives and track contracts Lifecyle metrics.

    + Operate a hub and spoke model department: ensure Collaboration with other functions across the enterprise, such as Finance, Privacy, Research Administration, Legal, Risk Management, IT, Internal Audit, and more to confirm All contract stakeholders have reviewed and given input on agreements as appropriate.

    + Provide counsel and advise senior leaders on areas of business risk pertaining to contractual obligations.

    + Lead negotiations on complex agreements such as multi-year system wide drug purchase and distribution agreements, 340B, Pharmacy Benefit Management, novel therapies such as CAR-T, and others as directed by departmental leadership.

    + Support all agreements within scope for pharmacy and health care delivery system, impacting more than 100 hospitals, clinics, and facilities.

    + Provide counsel and contracts portfolio management services for contract owners and business leaders.

    + Foster a proactive and positive team environment, while leading from the front with integrity and passion.

    + Ensure adequate administrative support to create and maintain a secured online contract database.

    Minimum Qualifications to Fulfill Job Responsibilities:

    Required

    Education

    + Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent of education and experience

    Experience

    + Minimum of 10+ years of contract management experience, preferably in health care, pharmacy, or medical fields

    + 5+ years in contracts as part of large, multidisciplinary organization

    + Proven leadership experience: Passionate about People leadership and development of team members

    License/Certification/Registration

    + None

    + Advanced degree(s)

    Experience

    + Preferred people leadership experience in a large, cross functional organization

    + Contracting Experience in healthcare, pharmacy and or medical related industry

    License/Certification/Registration

    + Licensed Attorney

    Additional Requirements

    + Broad experience working in complex, high paced healthcare environments. Preferred experience in pharmacy, medical, healthcare, and multi-disciplinary environments. Proven record of people leadership a plus.

    Compensation Disclaimer

     

    The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical.
