• Hazardous Waste Specialist

    Job Description

    A large County is looking to add a temporary Hazardous Waste Specialist to their team. This person will begin their day by setting up the shop and getting ready for customers. During their day, they will assist homeowners and business dispose of hazardous waste, answer questions, and guide people through the process. They will sort the chemicals based on DOT classes, then get these products ready to be shipped to third parties.

     

    The pay for this role will be $27.24/hour and is a temporary position for 3 months. This opportunity will provide training and invaluable insight into the waste world, setting this person up to move further within the field. The hours of this role are Tuesdays 7:30-3pm, Wednesday - Saturday 7:30-4:15pm.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    - Must be able to use a respirator (will need to have a physical done - coordinated and paid for by the county)

     

    - Ability to lift, pull, push 50lbs

     

    - 40hr Hazardous Waste Operator certification (HAZWOPER)

     

    - familiarity with chemical sorting, waste management, environmental health and/or safety training - Associates degree

     

    - DOT training
