T&T is seeking a Senior Telecommunications Network Engineer to join our dynamic IT team supporting complex telecommunications environments.
About the Role:
The Senior Telecommunication Network Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced telecommunication networks within the Department of Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Enterprise LAN environments. This position demands a deep understanding of network architecture to ensure robust, secure, and efficient communication systems that support critical business services. This role provides both technical and administrative direction to personnel responsible for network architecture, design, and operational support. The incumbent ensures adherence to design standards, quality control, and timely project execution in accordance with established milestones and deliverables.The engineer will lead efforts to troubleshoot complex network issues, optimize network performance, and integrate emerging technologies to meet evolving operational requirements. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders is essential to align network solutions with organizational goals and compliance standards. Ultimately, this role ensures the continuous availability and integrity of telecommunication infrastructure vital to the DLA’s mission success across multiple enterprise locations.
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Lead all phases of telecommunications network design, implementation, and analysis for large-scale projects.
+ Manage technical activities including cost estimation, evaluation of carrier services, and design of access and backbone networks.
+ Oversee analysis and design of wireless voice and data networks using private radio or commercial services.
+ Provide technical and administrative direction to engineering and operations staff, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
+ Lead network upgrade projects and evaluate new technologies to enhance network capabilities and efficiency.
+ Review and validate network work products for technical accuracy and alignment with user standards.
+ Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers and support staff.
+ Develop and present milestone status reports, technical briefings, and progress updates to clients and internal leadership.
+ Recommend approval of major network installations as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
+ **Certification:** Relevant certification from a nationally recognized technical authority.
+ **Experience:** Minimum of seven (7) years of network operations experience, including five (5) years in a progressively responsible telecommunications role.
+ Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies, including routing, switching, and network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
+ Experience with Cisco environments (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CCIE) or equivalent vendor certifications.
+ At least 30% of Telecommunications Network Engineer – Senior staff (including 2 Key Personnel at time of proposal) must hold a Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) certification.
+ **Training:** Must complete applicable DLA and Host Activity site-specific safety training and OSHA-compliant Aerial Lift Training before operating Aerial Lifts.
+ **Security Clearance:** Moderate Risk, Secret, Critical Sensitive with Tier 5/SSBI investigation at time of proposal.
+ **8570/8140 Compliance:** DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification: Category IAT Level I.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities in complex telecom environments.
+ Experience with network modeling and simulation tools.
+ Proven leadership in managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
+ Prior experience supporting DOD or federal government telecommunication networks.
+ Excellent communication and reporting skills.
The required skills enable the engineer to design and maintain complex telecommunication networks that are secure, reliable, and scalable, ensuring uninterrupted communication across the DLA enterprise. Proficiency in routing and switching protocols allows for effective network traffic management and optimization. Troubleshooting skills are critical for quickly diagnosing and resolving network issues to minimize downtime. Preferred skills such as network automation and cloud integration enhance the ability to streamline operations and adopt modern technologies. Strong communication and leadership skills facilitate collaboration with diverse teams and guide junior engineers, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and compliance standards.
