The Special Process Operations Leader drives initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the SPTC (Special Process Technology Center) function and interfaces with other functions to provide effective coordination of metrics, dashboards, functional processes, and cross-functional initiative coordination. This role serves as a central person to drive and support a broadly distributed team of Manufacturing Technology Leaders and their teams across the supply chain. With oversight of numerous special processes across multiple categories, the Special Process Operations Leader also collaborates with a global network of Aerospace, Defense, and Space suppliers as part of a special process industry group. In this role you will impact departmental operations and be responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
+ Responsible for process performance, compliance, and various other data collections that are used for ultimate decision making.
+ Responsible for process and metric tracking.
+ Able to work with existing and burgeoning data resources and AI tools to help make efficient analysis and drive effective decisions with broader SPTC technology team.
+ Developing in-depth knowledge of GE Engineering and Quality requirement document standards. Requirements and how they intersect with SPTC requirements in GE's Quality Policies and Procedures. Uses prior experience and acquired expertise to execute policy/strategy and to help guide the broader team of SPTLs on how to identify gaps and drive improvements to requirements.
+ In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how SPTC ops integrate with Standards, Product Definition, and Production Certification requirements.
+ Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
+ A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills. Provides informal guidance to new team members
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 5 years Manufacturing experience)
+ 5 years' experience in manufacturing quality and technology controls related to one or more special processes.
+ Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Desired Characteristics
+ Familiarity and experience with one or more Manufacturing Technologies and/or Special Processes
+ Special Processes are those manufacturing processes which are critical to jet engine performance, but their result can’t be measured directly so we have specialized approaches to confidently controlling their outcome.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work with broad range of technologies and organizations beyond Manufacturing including Quality, Sourcing, and Engineering.
+ Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
+ Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
+ Established project management skills.
+ Ability to support multiple parallel activities and self-manage priorities.
+ Significant experience with one or more of the key SPTC legacy eTools and Systems
