    Job Description

    Field of research:

    Applied biomedical research in the PI’s lab with emphasis on spatial omics assays—e.g., translational spatial genomics, imaging‑based profiling, assay/methods development, computational analysis. Work spans study design, method optimization, data analysis, and manuscript preparation supporting sponsor deliverables.

    Purpose of Research:

    Execute and advance funded specific aims across multiple awards; develop/optimize protocols and analysis pipelines; integrate datasets across projects; lead publications (two manuscripts currently in preparation); and mentor trainees to ensure continuity and scale.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Lead research & methods development — design experiments/analyses; develop/validate protocols; ensure data quality & reproducibility (50%).

     

    Project & data management — coordinate cross‑project timelines/milestones; maintain code/data pipelines; ensure documentation & compliance (20%).

     

    Publications & dissemination — lead/manuscript writing (two in prep), figure generation, conference abstracts/talks, responses to peer review (15%).

     

    Training & mentorship — guide graduate students/staff in techniques, analysis, and best practices; promote safety and rigor (10%).

     

    Lab/administrative support — compliance, inventories, purchasing coordination, and core/fee‑for‑service interactions (5%).

    Requirements:

    Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics and 4 years of relevant experience relevant experience in the lab’s primary methods such as molecular biology, next gen sequencing and quantitative data analysis in Python/R.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    1. Spatial transcriptomics assay setup & optimization: tissue cryosectioning/fixation, array/barcode handling, multi‑cycle hybridization.

    2. DNA‑barcoded immunolabeling (antibodies/oligo‑tags): titration, controls, panel QC.

     

    NGS library prep & run QC: UMI/barcode handling, cleanup/indexing, Qubit/Bioanalyzer, pass/fail metrics.

     

    3. Imaging & decoding: slide‑scanning fluorescence, cycle registration/drift correction, mapping to pixel coordinates.

    4. Primary processing & first‑pass analysis: demux/trim/align to pixel‑level count matrices; QC metrics & basic clustering/plots; Python or R; SOP/ELN.

    Desire:

    1. Experience with spatial and single-cell multiomics.

    2. Barcode design/error‑aware decoding; ambient/background correction.

    3. Segmentation & deconvolution (e.g., Cellpose/Scanpy/Seurat or similar).

    4. Workflow/HPC (Snakemake/Nextflow, containers) and data management (e.g., S3/Globus).

    5. Basic instrument/automation scripting (e.g., Micro‑Manager); publications, grants, mentoring.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $72,288.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $82,500.00 annual
