    The Planned Giving** **team** **has an exciting opening fo** **r a** **Director for Planned** **Giving** **. This is a full-time** **,** **permanent position.

     

    The Director for Planned Giving will collaborate with stakeholders across the University to identify and cultivate planned gift prospects, with a focus on securing deferred gifts and gifts of complex assets in support of the University of Washington. The Director will develop and implement strategies to secure support from donors and prospects for the University’s top priorities.

    What You Will Do** **:

    Frontline Fundraising (85%)

    + Cultivate and steward relationships with established deferred gift donors.

    + Identify, cultivate and solicitprospects for new deferred and complex major outright gifts, with an emphasis on gifts of $100,000+.

    + Solicit various types of gifts including life-income gifts, real property interests, charitable lead trusts, bargain sale gifts and revocable deferred gift commitments.

    + Prepare gift proposals, illustrations, transfer documents, bequest language and other relevant agreements in a timely and complete manner.

    + Collaborate with donors, their advisors, Advancement staff, academic leaders and volunteers to develop solicitation and gift strategies.

    + Meet performance metrics related to substantive contacts, major gift qualifications, solicitations and total dollars raised.

    Program Development and Management (15%)

    + Set annual performance goals in consultation with the Senior Director for Planned Giving and provide quarterly status reports to the Assistant Vice President for Planned Giving.

    + Conscientiously utilize the University's prospect tracking platform and comply with the University's policies and procedures related to privacy, ethics and best practices.

    + Assist in training and mentoring Advancement colleagues on planned giving strategies, terminology and relevant laws and regulations.

    + Attend the University’s Estate and Gift Planning Council meetings and provide, as well as request, subject matter expertise, as needed.

    + Coordinate the acceptance of planned gifts in accordance withUniversity policies and procedures.

    + Contribute to the production of planned gift reports and analyze gift data to identify trends and opportunities.

    + Consult with the Office of the Attorney General or Special Assistant Attorney General(s) on legal matters related to planned gifts, as appropriate.

    + Other duties as assigned

    Minimum** **Requirement** **s** **:

    Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in planned or major gifts or related field.

     

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    What You Bring** **:

    + Knowledge of outright and deferred charitable gift options,investments and financial planning.

    + Familiarity with laws related to charitable trusts, gifts annuities, real estate gifts and income, gift and estate taxes.

    + Commitment to continually learning and staying up-to-date on planned giving principles, best practices and related laws and regulations.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite for generating correspondence, special reports, spreadsheets and design/photography software and applications.

    What You Can Expect** **:

    + Cubicle/Open workspace environment which may result in additional or higher levels of noise and visual distractions.

    + Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary, on limited occasions.

    + Frequent local travel is expected with potential for occasional (1-2 times per year) out-of-state travel.

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $110,004.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $125,004.00 annual
