Job Summary
Join our dynamic team in the Department of Neurosurgery, where we are dedicated to advancing medical excellence through participation in national and state-based quality improvement registries. We contribute to esteemed programs like the American Spine Registry (ASR), Michigan Spine Surgery Improvement Collaborative (MSSIC), and the Quality Outcomes Database (QOD) Tumor registry. As part of our team, you will co-lead a variety of impactful quality improvement projects, directly influencing patient care and outcomes.

Responsibilities*
+ **Data Collection and Analysis:** Gather and analyze surgical schedules to identify procedures that match defined disease states.
+ **Chart Review:** Extract and review data from patient charts pre-operatively and post-operatively.
+ **Patient Interaction:** Conduct pre- and post-surgery interviews and functional assessments with patients, either in person or by phone.
+ **Quality Improvement:** Co-lead continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department.
+ **Data Management:** Evaluate and enhance current and new data collection processes, addressing and resolving any data discrepancies.
+ **Collaboration:** Work closely with surgeons and clinical staff to ensure the success of the quality improvement program.
+ **Professional Development:** Participate in data coordinator conferences and training sessions to stay abreast of best practices and advancements.
+ **Interdepartmental Activities:** Engage in departmental meetings, conferences, and conference calls to collaborate with a diverse team.
Required Qualifications*
+ Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of experience and education, RHIT or RHIA certification preferred.
+ Exceptional computer skills required
+ Database data entry and/or management experience
+ Familiarity and proficiency with MS Office products
+ Exceptional interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills
+ Demonstrated professionalism, flexibility, and discretion in all aspects of work
+ Evidence of organizational skills and attention to detail
+ Excellent time-management skills
+ Proven ability to take initiative, and manage multiple projects at the same time
+ Ability to handle multiple tasks, and to work independently
+ Ability to successfully interact in a diverse team environment
Desired Qualifications*
+ Previous registry experience as a data abstractor
+ Experience analyzing and interpreting process measures, clinical outcomes, and costs of care
+ Knowledge or experience working with the BCBSM Collaborative Quality Initiatives.
+ Familiarity with Epic MiChart
+ Healthcare background

Additional Information
This position is eligible for a hybrid-format. Occasional travel required.
