Overview

Material Handlers move products in an industrial battery distribution center (DC). Our DC is large in size due to our batteries but operates with a small and mighty team of 20 employees. Unlike some DCs, everyone knows your name and we truly work as a team. Material handlers must perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

+ Must successfully complete the material handling training and be licensed for the equipment used.

+ Capable of performing simple math and record information in written form.

+ Input and extract information from the computer.

+ Load and unload over-the-road trailers with powered equipment.

+ Must be able to understand and communicate in simple English to receive training instruction and to perform team responsibilities.

+ Comply with all safety and health policies and procedures.

+ Maintain the warehouse in a clean and orderly condition.

+ Must be able to operate and follow JD Edwards system.

+ Comply with current quality systems requirements.

+ Follow lean manufacturing procedures.

+ Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

+ Motor skills to operate material handling equipment in locations where product is stored from the floor to 16 foot racks in narrow aisles.

+ Perform various duties requiring walking, sitting, lifting, bending, twisting.

+ Occasionally required to work in extreme environmental conditions (hot, humid, cold).

+ Must be able to wear protective equipment required of the position.

+ Occasional lifting of up to 30-40 lbs.

Equipment Used:

+ Reach truck, fork lift, walkie, clipboard, pen/pencil, JD Edwards rf

Education, Experience, Skills Required:

+ Excellent attention to detail

+ Excellent multitasking skills

+ Previous manufacturing or related experience
