    Position Summary...

    5S Grocery Supply Chain Area Manager

    The Grocery Supply Chain Area Manager is responsible for leading operational excellence across assigned areas of the distribution center. This includes direct oversight of sanitation and detail cleaning teams, managing soil-rate targets, leading cross-functional projects, and embedding the 5S lean methodology. The role also ensures alignment with Walmart’s leadership expectations—Respect the Individual, Act with Integrity, Serve Our Customers and Members, and Strive for Excellence.

     

    What you'll do...

    Operational Leadership

    - Implement the business plan for the area of responsibility by communicating goals, managing staffing and scheduling, assigning duties, and coordinating workloads to achieve facility goals (e.g., production, quality, safety).

     

    - Monitor and manage productivity by preparing, reviewing, and analyzing business reports.

     

    - Maintain quality and safety standards by ensuring associates are trained on logistics and company policies, monitoring compliance, and maintaining procedural documentation.

     

    Sanitation & Cleaning Oversight

     

    - Lead hourly detail cleaners and sanitation associates.

     

    - Execute proactive cleaning schedules for wet rooms, reclaims, ceilings, walls, racks, and penthouses.

     

    - Use soil-rate data to determine cleaning frequency and staffing needs.

     

    - Collaborate with sanitation managers to ensure compliance and performance.

     

    Soil-Rate Management

     

    - Create and manage soil-rate metrics to assess cleanliness and labor efficiency.

     

    - Use data insights to optimize cleaning schedules and resource allocation.

     

    Project Creation & Management

     

    - Lead operational improvement projects focused on sanitation, safety, and productivity.

     

    - Manage project timelines, budgets, and cross-functional collaboration.

     

    - Track and report project outcomes to leadership.

     

    5S Program Leadership

    - Champion the 5S methodology:

    - Sort: Remove unnecessary items.

     

    - Set-in-Order: Organize tools and materials.

     

    - Shine: Maintain clean work areas.

     

    - Standardize: Implement consistent visual standards and procedures.

     

    - Sustain: Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

     

    - Ensure all associates receive adequate 5S training.

     

    - Monitor compliance with 5S standards, including pedestrian safety and shadow board readiness.

    Associate Engagement & Development

    - Communicate with individuals and groups verbally and in writing (e.g., customers, suppliers, associates).

     

    - Identify associate, customer, and supplier concerns and determine corrective actions.

     

    - Supervise and develop associates and leaders by assigning duties, monitoring performance, providing feedback, and participating in hiring, coaching, and evaluation.

     

    Respect the Individual: Builds high performing teams embraces differences in people cultures ideas and experiences creates a workplace where associates feel seen supported and connected through a culture of belonging creates opportunities for all associates to thrive and perform.

    The annual salary range for this position is $65,500.00 - $98,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
