    Job Description:

    The Transplant Assistant III – Complex or Lead serves in a dual-capacity role that combines leadership responsibilities with clinical and clerical support. This position functions as a team leader or experienced project manager, coordinating the work of other assistants and overseeing a full range of office activities and specialized support for multiple directors, managers, physicians, or departments.

     

    A key focus of this role is financial coordination, including tracking invoices, following up with vendors, and maintaining systems for data and financial management. The Transplant Assistant III ensures compliance with CMS requirements, facilitates effective clinic organization, and supports patient care by acting as a communication link between patients, staff, physicians, and external healthcare entities.

     

    This role may supervise others and is responsible for orienting and training new employees, maintaining partial caseloads, overseeing scheduling, and supporting employee engagement initiatives. The position requires strong organizational skills, independent decision-making, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + If working at Primary Children's Hospital: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA) and Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

    + If working at Intermountain Medical Center: Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. (As needed)

    + Prior experience and demonstrated expertise working in a transplant assistant role.

    + Promotion to a team lead role, project manager, or fulfillment of a complex role as deemed appropriate by transplant leadership, based on demonstration of experience, skills and competencies necessary for success in this role.

    + Demonstrated experience working in a complex role with patient coordination and tracking responsibilities.

    + Demonstrated staff or customer service leadership experience utilizing computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet applications, email, appointment scheduling, registration, billing, and electronic medical records.

    + Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.

    + Strong analytical, writing, and critical thinking skills.

    + Highly motivated with a positive attitude and high degree of flexibility in a rapidly changing environment.

    + Demonstrated ability to organize, coordinate, prioritize and work independently on projects.

    + Demonstrated general office skills (i.e. typing, faxing, and filing).

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Bookkeeping or financial coordination experience, including invoice tracking, vendor follow-up, and reconciliation.

    + Familiarity with financial systems or tools such as Excel, QuickBooks, or other accounting software.

    + College coursework or training in finance, accounting, business administration, or healthcare operations.

    + Experience in a Transplant Assistant or similar healthcare role including scheduling, reception, medical records, filing, prior authorization and insurance authorization, medical terminology, and telephone triage.

    + Medical Assistant certification Level II or III, or five years CNA experience in a mixed hospital and clinic setting with patient coordination and tracking responsibilities.

    + Leadership experience (e.g., training others, coordinating projects, acting as a team lead).

    + Spanish speaking/interpreter skills.

    The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

     

    $24.00 - $36.54
