    The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) provides services to support 100-200 active clinical research trials across multiple medical specialties while maintaining close engagement with study team members. The CRU maintains close integration with patient care and clinical staff and its laboratory team cultivates professional relationships while supporting the successful execution of clinical trials that provide meaningful hope to patients and their families. As a Shared Laboratory Resource Specialist I, you will independently perform a variety of laboratory activities at a moderate scientific complexity level, supporting the pre-analytical work for clinical trials, following proper procedures and SOPs, maintaining equipment, supporting operations and research customers and completing special projects.

     

    A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (start/end time flexes depending on business needs) with occasional evening and weekend requirements.

     

    _This role is primarily based on Main Campus, with occasional travel to regional sites as needed, which is expected to be infrequent._

     

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Work with more senior mentors with any questions, training, or other learning requirements to successfully complete assigned work.

    + Work independently or with a more senior mentor, conduct and evaluate experiments, essays, or other laboratory activities of low to moderate complexities.

    + Calculate, compile and communicate data to the Core leadership or internal customer.

    + Perform quality assurance on all assigned activities per procedures or SOPs.

    + Perform intake functions for the laboratory such as logging of samples and service requests, and the dissemination of basic information to users (i.e., minimum requirements for services, costs, etc.).

    + Record work accurately and completely.

    + Maintain established laboratory inventories, ordering materials as necessary

    + Prepare and operate equipment for experiments, assays, measurements, etc.

    + Assist in performing minor equipment repairs, according to manufacturer and Core guidelines.

    + Clean and perform general maintenance on equipment, according to established protocols.

    + Support the execution and facilitation of specialized services.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Associate's degree in a relevant scientific field

    + **OR** two years of relevant experience

    + Certification in appropriate field per department or core protocol within one year of hire

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Laboratory or project management experience

    + Technical and/or procedural experience in a laboratory setting

    + Experience in reproductive technologies and anatomy

    + Capable of handling protocol development

    + Comfortable handling specimens collected from humans, including COVID positive materials and chemical hazards

    Physical Requirements:

    + May be exposed to hazardous biological, vaporous and odorous materials

    + Manual and visual dexterity required.

    + Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

    + Continuous lifting, standing and walking.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

     

    Pay Range

     

    Minimum hourly: $18.88

     

    Maximum hourly: $28.80

     

    The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. While the pay range is displayed as an hourly rate, Cleveland Clinic recruiters will clarify whether the compensation is hourly or salary. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education.
