    Director, Transformation

    Role Summary:

    The Director, Transformation, will lead the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) program within the Transformation Management Office, acting as an initiative-taking and collaborative partner to the Senior Director and VP of Transformation. This role holds end-to-end accountability for the IBP process, covering strategy formulation, program rollout, adoption, and ongoing enhancement. The Director will also identify and communicate overlaps, interdependencies, and risks across key enterprise-wide transformation initiatives such as GTM, AI/GenAI, and Global Reporting. Over time, the role will evolve for the Director to take on additional or other large scale transformation programs end-to-end, as the IBP program gets fully integrated into the business.

     

    With executive-level oversight, the Director will manage the IBP program across five critical workstreams, ensuring seamless integration by mapping connections and cause-effect relationships. Close collaboration with the Senior Director and VP of Transformation, as well the VP of Planning Transformation located in EMEA is essential to align intersecting projects and drive program success. The Director will also lead strategic engagements with senior planning, finance, technology, marketing, and merchant leaders across multiple brands and regions.

     

    In addition, the Director will be managing a broad portfolio of transformation workstreams and capabilities, overseeing special projects aligned with evolving business priorities, such as Global Reporting and ensuring consistent, transparent communication with VF and brand leadership. The role is charged with delivering scalable solutions that enhance, among others, planning capabilities (incl. forecast accuracy), synchronize operating rhythms across brands and regions, and surface synergies with enterprise transformation programs to accelerate value realization.

    Core Responsibilities:

    Lead Integrated Business Planning (IBP), owning end-to-end execution of pre-season and in-season planning cycles. This includes ensuring robust planning processes, governance, measurable outcomes, and continuous improvement. Integrate ideas and insights gathered from Global Leadership meetings, taking responsibility for explaining outcomes and findings, as well as outlining plans for improvement before the next planning cycle.

     

    Scale transformation portfolio, provide mid‑to‑long‑term oversight for the IBP workstream and take on leadership for additional programs over the long run, which could entail, for example, GTM redesign, AI and GenAI acceleration, and other enterprise initiatives.

     

    + Partner with Global and Regional leadership and Heads of Planning across AMERICAS, EMEA, and APAC for key brands (The North Face, Timberland, Vans, and in the long term smaller brands) to develop capabilities for use cases from buying optimization to markdown management.

    + Optimize processes and capabilities, assess and improve workflows, cross‑functional collaboration, decisioning activities, and technology enablement to deliver measurable value across brands.

    + Oversee project / product managers to advocate business adoption of various tools and systems, including machine learning-based forecasting; analyzing and monitor forecast accuracy, lead root cause analyses, and continuously refine models and integrations. Leverage feedback to inform and improve future rollouts and decision-making. Collaborate with leadership across data & technology functions to align strategic roadmaps and ensure value delivery through tool usage

    + Manage technology interdependencies and risks, Identify and communicate dependencies and overlaps between IBP and other transformation programs; escalate risks and lead stakeholder mitigation actions.

    + Sustain governance and change forums, maintain recurring decision forums (Capability Forums, Business Reviews, etc.) to ensure consistent accountability and timely decision making.

    + Lead and develop delivery teams, manage product/project managers cross regionally and 2–4 workstream managers; prioritize backlog, remove impediments, and ensure on‑time delivery of critical enhancements.

    + Ensure value capture and financial alignment, Track capability adoption and business impact, partner with Finance to validate budgets, quantify benefits, and report value realization.

    + Communicate with senior leadership, produce executive‑level updates, facilitate sponsor check‑ins, and present progress, risks, and opportunities to the Senior Director and other senior stakeholders.

    + Embed best practices and enablement, create training, playbooks, and on‑the‑job programs to institutionalize IBP practices and support regional rollouts of new tools and processes.

    Additional workstream management and special projects:

    + Oversee extra workstreams and capability builds, stand up programs and project teams to implement and enable business priorities and ensure delivery against milestones.

    + Coordinate cross‑functional execution, Partner with IT, Digital, Marketing, Finance, and other teams to integrate initiatives such as AI and emerging enterprise technologies.

    + Track progress and report status, monitor milestone completion with initiative owners, surface risks and interdependencies, escalate blockers, and share weekly updates with the Senior Director and sponsors.

    + Drive value realization, track short‑ and long‑term project value and ramp‑up, quantify benefits, and ensure outcomes align to enterprise objectives.

    + Provide governance and stakeholder engagement, facilitate regular sponsor check‑ins, ensure clear cross‑functional communication, and enforce timely handoffs and accountability.

    + Support and advise other workstreams, use insights on progress, roadblocks, and risks to guide and unblock adjacent programs.

    Additional transformation and strategic support:

    + Develop executive communications and create updates and presentations for Global and Senior Leadership Teams spanning VF, its brands, and regional divisions.

    + Serve as acting Senior Director by representing them in meetings and launches as required.

    + Shape strategic priorities, Partner with Transformation leadership to define enterprise priorities and identify new project opportunities.

    + Surface interdependencies and coordinate handoffs, continuously map dependencies across workstreams, ensure alignment, and drive smooth transitions between teams.

    + Build and develop the team, Recruit and develop a high‑performing team, cultivate a collaborative culture, and mentor junior staff to scale capability delivery.

    + Passion for innovative technologies, particularly AI/GenAI and advanced analytics, and their application in consumer goods/retail.

    Qualifications:

    + Experience: 10+ years in consumer-facing, fast-paced companies with transformation/PMO leadership in global settings.

    + Program delivery: Proven track record driving cost‑savings, digital or transformation programs; system implementations and capability rollouts preferred.

    + Industry: Retail/apparel/footwear experience or familiarity with planning, merchandising, buying preferred.

    + People management: Managed small teams (2–5) with responsibility for priorities and performance.

    + Technical: Comfortable with data science, ML, AI initiatives.

    + Education: Bachelors required; Master’s degree preferred.

    Hiring Range** **:

    $184,896.00 USD - $231,120.00 USD annually

     

    **Incentive Potential** : This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential.
