Job Summary
Are you passionate about the Water sector? TYLin is looking for an intern to join our Chicago office for the Summer of 2026. As an Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Designer intern, you'll gain the opportunity to immerse yourself in diverse projects. You will assist engineers in designing and maintaining control systems that are critical to the safe automation, monitoring and operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities. This internship is your chance to be part of a collaborative community where you can expand your knowledge and sharpen your skills through hands-on meaningful work.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
What You Will Do
+ Assist I&C Engineers in designing control systems for water and wastewater treatment plants, helping ensure essential facilities operate efficiently
+ Create drawings and assist I&C engineers in development of detailed P&ID diagrams for complex process systems
+ Develop specifications for instrumentation, sensors, programmable logic controllers, and control panels
+ Support troubleshooting efforts to solve equipment and system issue
+ Develop strategies and control logic for automation treatment plants
+ Attend site visits and participate in systems testing

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear documentation and interacting professionally with clients and colleagues
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also able to effectively collaborate in a team environment
+ Strong commitment to integrity, consistently demonstrating ethical, fair, and responsible behavior
+ Commitment to innovation and continuous learning, with a passion for acquiring new skills and driving improvements
Your Education and Experience
+ Requires current 3rd year standing as an undergraduate pursuing a degree in either Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or related discipline
+ Experience with MS Word, Excel and engineering software
+ Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or MicroStation experience is preferred
