    The Aerospace Defense and Marine (AD&M) business of TE is a leader in the development and engineering of a comprehensive portfolio of connectors, fiber optics, wires, cables, antennas, circuit protectors and moldings for harsh environments. We have a global customer base with over 6,000 employees to deliver a broad range of solutions.

     

    We are currently seeking a highly motivated STAFF R&D/PRODUCT DVL ENGINEER (5-1-C) to join AD&M’s Ruggedized Fiber Optics (RFO) group, focusing primarily on product development. This role will be based in Arden, North Carolina and will report directly to the RFO NA Snr Engineering Manager. This position will lead technical domains of single or multiple strategic development projects from initial ideation to final production.

    Job Requirements

    • Product development and design, including fiber optic connector and termini design, fiber optic cable assembly design, and fiber optic flex cable assembly design.

    • Handle the development of fiber optic interconnect systems.

    • Liaison to Manufacturing plant locations.

    • Create Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and make changes to drawings in SolidWorks/CREO/ZWCAD.

    • Address requests for product extensions, drawing changes, and engineering quotes.

    • Manage requests to get parts extended and costed in SAP.

    • Support Expanded Beam Product Line for changes and product extensions.

    • Manage technical elements and maintain required performance and schedules.

    • Ensure project management stages are handled in absence of the team leader/project manager.

    • Contribute to department-level technology and product decisions.

    • Train and support junior engineers in the department in the technical knowledge of the product domain.

    Critical Experience

    • Fiber optic or rugged fiber optic connector and termini development.

    • Fiber optic cable assembly development experience.

    • Manage and lead product development through the product development life cycle.

    • Experience with SolidWorks, CREO, and AutoCAD.

    • Tolerance analysis.

    • Create design verification test (DVT)/Qual test plans and test requests.

    • Assist with witness testing in the lab.

    • Participate in DFMEA/PFMEA.

    • Head design review preparation/presentation.

    • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes.

    • Proficient with MS Office software.

    • General problem solving skills, and willingness to dig in and drive a solution

    What your background should look like

    • B.S. degree in appropriate discipline or equivalent work experience with fiber optic connectors, cables, termini, etc.

    • 5-8 years design and new product development experience, preferably with electronic or optoelectronic related assemblies, hardware, and components.

    • Demonstrated teamwork skills in a high-paced and ideally global environment.

    COMPENSATION

    • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $142,000 - $185,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)

    • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

    • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
