POSITION DETAILS
The Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at the CUNY Graduate Center, reporting to senior executive management, oversees a school, division, academic program and/or function to enhance its profile, visibility, and effectiveness. The Associate Provost develops long- and short- range plans, and exercises management responsibility for academic program planning, faculty matters, and administration, including staffing, budgets, and facilities. They foster a high-quality environment of academic teaching, research, and intellectual achievement, and creates and strengthens partnerships within and outside the College as a strong advocate.
Reporting to the Provost and serving as the deputy, the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences assists in supervising a variety of administrative and fiscal areas, including all doctoral and master’s programs, interdisciplinary studies, the certificate programs, students’ professional development, the Graduate Assistant Programs, annual dissertation awards competition, and oversight of the Graduate Center’s Centers and Institutes.
The Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences also plays a key leadership role in the Humanities and Social Sciences discipline clusters, and is a significant partner in the implementation of the GC’s Strategic Plan.

QUALIFICATIONS
A preferred candidate should have:
+ Doctoral degree and a record of scholarly achievement qualifying for appointment to the faculty
+ Accomplished record of significant senior administrative experience with a commitment to the principles of a large, urban, public university
+ Broad understanding of and enthusiasm for the highest standards of academic achievement both within disciplines and in innovative combinations of them
+ Ability to think creatively
+ Strong problem-solving skills
+ A high level of personal and professional integrity
+ Demonstrated ability to manage human and financial resource
+ Demonstrable talent for dealing creatively, flexibly, and fairly with people and issues
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be offered for this position.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
