Assistant Professor - Management & Business Innovation
FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Lehman College campus is located in Bronx, New York and is a Senior College within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Lehman is the only four-year public college in the Bronx and is recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution. The college serves mainly undergraduate students preparing them for employment, the professions and further study. The teaching load is 18 hours per year for this position. The Department of Management and Business Innovation is one of three new departments within Lehman College’s newly established School of Business, alongside Accounting and Finance, Information Systems, and Economics. The School’s mission is to prepare graduates with a strong foundation in theoretical knowledge while equipping them with career-ready competencies. This is achieved through a strong emphasis on experiential learning embedded within courses, ensuring students are ready to excel in their professions.
The Department of Management and Business Innovation in the School of Business at Lehman College, City University of New York, invites applications a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Business Law, starting Fall 2026. We seek candidates with an active record of research, scholarship, or creative work, a strong commitment to teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and a dedication to service within the department, school, and college. The position requires flexibility to teach in the evenings, on weekends, and online.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in business law and related areas, including real estate law, commercial transactions, labor relations, legal business entity formation, intellectual property, and employment law. Responsibilities also include conducting and publishing research in refereed journals, presenting annually at academic conferences, engaging in departmental, school, and college service, and actively participating in professional organizations.
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Sponsorship will not be offered for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Candidates must have a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school and must demonstrate the capacity to conduct quality academic research and publish in the peer-reviewed journals. Also required are the ability to teach effectively, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Active involvement in professional organizations, commitment to experiential learning, and promotion of student success is required.
**Preferred Qualifications:** Qualified applicants with business work experience, particularly in real estate and property law, human resource management, entrepreneurship, and small business management, as well as those with experience in design and incorporation of experiential learning, are preferred. Candidates with a second degree in a business-related field at either the master’s or undergraduate level and/or teaching experience in higher education in the field of business law are particularly encouraged to apply.
COMPENSATION
