Job Description
What We Want
The Virtual Reality Developer, under general supervision, supports the design, development, and implementation of immersive VR applications and simulations for the Institute for Applied Creativity in the College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts. This position contributes technical expertise and creativity to educational, artistic, and experimental projects, while assisting with equipment setup, testing, and optimization.

Essential Duties/Tasks
VR Application Development and Testing
+ Assists in the development of VR applications and experiences using Unity or Unreal Engine.
+ Tests, troubleshoots, and optimizes VR applications to improve performance and user experience.
+ Implements interaction design principles to ensure engaging and immersive experiences.
Creative Contribution and Collaboration
+ Participates in brainstorming sessions and contributes innovative ideas for VR projects.
+ Collaborates with team members, faculty, and students to align technical development with creative goals.
+ Provides input on design and functionality during project planning.
Technical and Administrative Support
+ Assists with the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of VR equipment during projects and events.
+ Provides general technical support for VR-related tasks in the lab.
+ Assists with administrative tasks related to project documentation and coordination.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Visualization, Computer Graphics, Computer Science or closely related field.
+ 1 year of experience with VR development platforms such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
+ None.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Familiarity with programming languages such as C# or C++.
+ Master’s degree in Visualization, Computer Graphics, Computer Science, or related field.
+ Strong understanding of 3D modeling, VR integration, and interaction design.
+ Prior experience working on immersive or interactive projects.
+ Effective project management and multitasking skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Passion for creating immersive VR experiences.
+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
+ Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
+ Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
+ Working knowledge of VR development pipelines and optimization techniques.
Other Requirements and Factors:
+ This position is contingent upon continued grant/departmental funding and is subject to potential continuation should a business need warrant it.
+ This position is security sensitive.
+ This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures.
+ All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements.
