The U.S. Regulatory Relations team is responsible for managing relationships between American Express and our U.S. regulatory agencies, as well as driving operational excellence in all regulatory interactions. This team coordinates and guides dialogue which leads to a greater understanding of regulatory expectations within AXP/AENB, and the demonstration of such to the examiner community.
The team is organized to specific risk profile areas to enable specialization, focus, and dedicated attention to the applicable internal teams, and corresponding regulators. These areas include Compliance and Finance, Technology, Data Governance and Vendor Affiliates and Enterprise Risk Management, Fraud, Credit and Operational Risk, as well as Reporting and Communications.
The U.S. Regulatory Relations team works hand-in-hand with Global Risk & Compliance’s (GRC) Regulatory Exam Lifecycle Management (RELM) team, responsible for Preparedness, Exam Management and Remediation. The close partnership ensures a seamless and cohesive experience for our regulators when interacting with American Express.
Responsibilities:
+ Manage Continuous Monitoring meetings (internal leadership prep and live regulatory updates) for designated risk pillars
+ Manage meeting agendas and support preparation of meeting materials
+ Manage Regulatory Information Request from receipt through response delivery in compliance with internal standards
+ Note-taking at Continuous Monitoring meetings
+ Provide support to B40 Relationship Leaders
+ Manage communications with regulators arising from RELM and/or relating to IAG validation
+ Develop and share insights from Continuous Monitoring meetings
+ Develop subject matter expertise and serve as liaison between risk area and corresponding regulators
+ Ensure compliance with all requirements related to handling and sharing Confidential Supervisory Information (CSI) in accordance with applicable regulatory guidance and American Express internal procedures
Minimum Qualifications:
+ 3-5 years of experience in regulatory relationship management and/or 2nd lines of defense
+ Relationship builder who enjoys collaborating across diverse teams
+ Ability to influence business leaders and internal partners, regardless of band level, and to identify and communicate linkages across initiatives and disciplines
+ Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, executive presence, and ability to effectively interact at all levels within the organization – especially with respect to sharing learnings, best practices, and key information pertaining to regulatory focus areas
+ Extreme attention to detail, sense of accountability, and ability to follow through on time-sensitive deliverables, including the agility to handle multiple meetings and concurrent requests within a deadline-driven environment
+ Understanding of the supervisory processes of federal regulators
+ Strategic and tactical leadership skills, in addition to sound judgment and decision making
+ Ability to engage with internal and external business partners, including senior leaders, to coordinate interactions with and responses to regulatory examiners
+ Strong Microsoft Office and WebEx skills required
+ Bachelor’s degree required

Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually bonus benefits
