Key job responsibilities

As a SDE-II in the Visibility Expansions (VisXP) team you will use your knowledge and skills to make quick two-way-door decisions and execute them to meet the team’s patching visibility goals. You influence the outcome of architecture and design efforts across the team, enhancing current products, and in developing new service offerings in support of AWS Security goals.

You work with customers, stakeholders, and peers to understand the business and customer value of our team’s software to ensure we deliver the right solutions to help them achieve their security goals.

You are a champion of operational excellence. You routinely identify and execute on opportunities to improve the team’s operations to continuously enhance customer experience and earn their trust. You will take action to improve the stability, reliability and performance of the service both independently and in coordination with their peers. Your work positively impacts the software quality, customer experience, and maintainability of our services.

You are a mentor for junior engineers and also a technical escalation point for operational issues. You are active in the code review process on our team, providing meaningful feedback to others.

A day in the life

You work closely with AWS Security practitioners and other stakeholders to build, operate and maintain mission-critical security services. You will be working in a agile-development environment and will have the agency to move quickly to prioritize work continuously and own your deliverables tactically.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- 3+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
