Job Description:
The Development Coordinator (DC) is an integral member of the Principal Gift Program and, by extension, the Regional Development team who provides comprehensive fundraising and high-level administrative support for the development efforts to build a strong and supportive community of principal gift-level alumni, parents, and friends at Brown University. They play a critical role in the Principal Gift Program and provide an advanced level of direct support to the most senior fundraisers - this could include support of Senior Directors, Principal Gifts, Assistant/Associate Vice President or Vice President, with significant engagement and/or management responsibilities in addition to fundraising goals.
Using deep knowledge of donor interest and key University priorities, the DC coordinates all aspects of cultivation, engagement, solicitation, and stewardship for the prospect portfolios of the team members they work with. These responsibilities include: the management of a principal gift portfolio pipeline, including but not limited to gifts ranging to the high eight figures; providing updated information about programs and critical funding opportunities for donor cultivation and proposal development; managing selected special events; managing information technology duties; providing regular gift reports; and drafting strategies, proposals, briefings, and gift agreements to advance relationships and gift conversations and closures.
In collaboration with the donor stewardship team, the DC will help ensure appropriate stewardship activities on behalf of the senior fundraisers. The DC will help coordinate regional travel by the fundraisers as well as senior administrators and faculty working with our senior fundraisers, ensuring effective use of senior administrators working with Advancement.
Adherence to Division policies and best practices is expected. This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, a positive attitude, and a high level of organization, initiative, and professionalism.
This position is Providence, RI based.

Education and Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field such as development, nonprofit, fundraising, sales, customer relations, administrative, and/or higher education
+ Experience in a higher education, fundraising, or non-profit setting is highly desirable.
+ Knowledge of Blackbaud is a plus.
+ Experience in event management is desired
Job Competencies
+ Ability to interact and develop relationships with high level alumni and parents, prospects and donors.
+ Proficient with audio/visual and presentation platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams or WebEx, PowerPoint, etc.)
+ Expertise in Microsoft and Google platforms, especially Google Calendar and email, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
+ Strong interpersonal skills necessary for building relationships with external (donors, prospects, trustees) and internal (deans, faculty, staff, colleagues) constituents. Highly collaborative in approach.
+ Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to initiate, collaborate, implement, monitor, evaluate and advance strategic plans that support the activities of the program and contribute to the overall goals and objectives of Advancement and the fundraising enterprise.
+ Be comfortable managing multiple projects under tight deadlines with a commitment to task accuracy and deadline adherence.
+ Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to deal effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
+ Must be able and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
