Job Title: XRF Lab TechnicianJob Description
The XRF Lab Technician is responsible for performing X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) analysis and other analytical methods to determine major, minor, and trace elements in raw materials, plant products, and materials submitted by customers. This role involves using established methods and procedures to conduct a variety of tests and analyses.
Responsibilities
+ Perform spectroscopic analysis using a computer-controlled X-Ray spectrometer and associated equipment.
+ Weigh and prepare samples for analysis using methods such as fused bead, pressed pellet, and loose powder.
+ Use calibration and quality control standards to ensure data precision and accuracy.
+ Archive and dispose of samples, perform routine maintenance, and order supplies as needed.
+ Continuously evaluate and improve existing methods and develop new methods for sample analysis.
+ Communicate with the plant production group and technical staff to obtain analytical schedules and priorities.
+ Maintain accurate records of analysis and report findings to appropriate personnel.
+ Occasionally provide weekend coverage based on production needs.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum two-year college degree in chemistry or chemical technology, or equivalent experience.
+ Understanding of X-ray spectroscopy theory.
+ Familiarity with WD-XRF units and ZSX quantitative and SQX semi-quantitative software.
+ Knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Proficiency in mathematics and computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office 365.
+ Effective time management to handle priorities and production requirements.
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
+ Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with staff, clients, and vendors.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills for data recording and reporting.
+ Capability to diagnose and perform minor repairs on instrumentation.
+ Ability to recommend equipment purchases and maintain stock of specialized consumables.
Work Environment
The position is based in an industrial lab environment, operating Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Some weekend work may be required depending on production needs. The work setting is less clean than typical laboratory environments, reflecting its industrial nature. Employees are provided with company-paid life insurance, an annual safety shoe allowance, and uniforms.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Niagara Falls, New York.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
