Job Title: Laboratory TechnicianJob Description
The Laboratory Technician's primary responsibility is to provide support to laboratory staff as needed in all areas of laboratory operations. The laboratory technician will report to the general manager and/or operations manager for their daily assignment. The needs of the laboratory will change on a daily basis, as will the laboratory technician's role.
Responsibilities
+ Independently prepare and analyze samples after appropriate training, using analytical SOPs and instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies.
+ Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment.
+ Assist with validation and MDL studies.
+ Assist with investigation and preparation of responses to client inquiries and corrective action requests (CARs).
+ Input and maintain technical information as needed to support laboratory functions and operations.
+ Maintain laboratory notebooks where applicable.
+ Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Proficient in extraction, titration, and pH testing.
+ Comfortable handling various acids, bases, and reagents with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
+ Experience in organic extraction, metals, and/or as a GC or GCMS technician.
+ Knowledge of general chemistry including wet chemistry, titrations, dilutions, and viscosity.
+ Experience with laboratory equipment and sample analysis.
+ Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, etc.).
+ Effective communicator who can work under minimal guidance and multi-task with shifting priorities each day.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in sciences through education, work-related experience, or a combination.
+ Knowledge and concern for environmental issues is a plus.
+ Demonstrates the utmost level of integrity and shows respect towards others and company principles.
+ Excellent time management skills, including the ability to balance multiple projects concurrently and arrange necessary resources.
Work Environment
The work takes place in a chemistry lab specializing in extractions. The position requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule, as longer hours, evenings, and/or weekend work will frequently be necessary as job duties demand. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, New Jersey.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
