    Job Title: Mechanical Design EngineerJob Description

     

    The Mechanical Design Engineer plays a key role in the development of packaged equipment, ensuring designs meet company standards, customer requirements, and industry best practices. This position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams—including mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and controls engineers—as well as vendors and the Supply Chain team.

    Responsibilities

    + Create parametric 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings.

    + Serve as the subject matter expert in computer-aided design (CAD).

    + Maintain the accuracy and integrity of design documentation within a revision control system.

    + Design complex products and systems, applying advanced engineering design principles.

    + Develop detailed fabrication drawings, general arrangement drawings, P&IDs, engineering Bills of Materials, and assign part numbers within the ERP system.

    + Provide support to manufacturing and procurement teams by clarifying design intent and recommending improvements.

    + Independently plan and manage daily engineering and design tasks to meet project deadlines.

    + Monitor job costs and schedules to ensure alignment with customer specifications and technical standards.

    + Create and implement engineering standards and documentation templates.

    + Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, Project Managers, Purchasing, and Service teams.

    + Establish standardized design and drafting procedures to improve project consistency and efficiency.

    + Review and define engineering scope changes as needed.

    + Provide technical input and cost estimates to Proposal Managers, including preparing proposal-level drawings.

    + Adhere to all company health and safety policies related to core job functions.

    Essential Skills

    + 7+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer.

    + Proficiency in Solidworks, AutoCAD, and P&ID for over 7 years.

    + Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

    + Experience in product design within a manufacturing/package equipment space.

    + Experience in sizing valves, pumps, motors, and components in an electromechanical system.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Fabrication and filtration experience is a plus.

    + Experience with CAD, BOM, ERP systems, and ANSI standards.

    Work Environment

    The candidate will work in an office environment 70% of the time creating 2D/3D models, with 30% spent on the production floor as needed. The role offers the opportunity to work with a team of 5 engineers in a multi-discipline setting within the water industry. After an initial six-month period, the candidate may transition to a direct employee status, gaining 10 PTO days and 11 paid holidays.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sugar Land, Texas.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $53.00 - $60.00/hr.
