We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support clinical and administrative operations to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient office procedures. This role is essential in maintaining a welcoming and organized environment for patients and staff.
Responsibilities
+ Greet and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner.
+ Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and handle phone inquiries.
+ Prepare examination rooms by ensuring cleanliness and stocking necessary supplies.
+ Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations/physicals (excluding diagnostic and surgical activities).
+ Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
+ Collect and label specimens for laboratory testing as directed.
+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient documentation in electronic health records (EHR).
+ Support patient education by providing printed materials and answering general questions.
+ Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and office policies.
+ Perform basic clerical duties including filing, faxing, and data entry.
Essential Skills
+ Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited school (online programs are ineligible).
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Proficiency in using EHR systems and basic office software.
+ Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
+ Commitment to patient confidentiality and professionalism.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in pediatrics, triage, and patient care.
+ Knowledge of manual blood pressure measurement.
+ Familiarity with RMA and EMR systems.
Work Environment
The position is based in a clinical setting such as a physician’s office, outpatient clinic, or healthcare facility. It may require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of medical supplies. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with one evening shift from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm. The organization is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that functions primarily as a safety net provider offering multidisciplinary health care services to all individuals, with a special focus on underserved and marginalized populations. The center offers a discounted sliding fee scale to ensure no one is denied access to care due to their inability to pay. Services include adult and pediatric primary care, behavioral health and substance use treatment, dental services, diabetes care, infectious disease management, LGBTQ services, Ob/Gyn care, full-service pharmacy services, psychiatry, and social services.

This is a Contract position based out of Columbia, Maryland.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
