An Oncology Nurse Navigator is a professional registered nurse with specialized oncology clinical knowledge who provides individualized assistance to oncology patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers. Utilizing the nursing process and oncology nurse navigator standards, the navigator offers education and resources to facilitate informed decision-making and timely access to quality health and psychosocial care throughout all phases of care. All services are provided under the direction of a provider from the oncology care team.
Responsibilities
+ Provide education and resources to patients and their families.
+ Coordinate appointments and referrals.
+ Facilitate shared decision-making.
+ Develop relationships with referring physicians and ensure follow-up and treatment plans are communicated.
+ Collaborate with the Clinical Research Team.
+ Participate in interdisciplinary tumor conferences.
+ Support palliative care, if applicable.
+ Provide consultation throughout the survivorship trajectory, if applicable.
+ Complete intake logs and report monthly to the program manager for outcome metric reporting.
+ Adhere to the oncology navigation standards.
Essential Skills
+ Oncology-specific clinical knowledge.
+ Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license in the state of Missouri.
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or clinic nursing setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 1 year of experience in oncology and/or as a navigator or care manager is preferred.
+ Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare systems.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday during clinic hours, located within the Oncology department.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, Missouri.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
