Software Engineer (Back End Developer) Supporting Next Gen Military Tech!!
Job Description
We are seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Back End Development with a comprehensive understanding of the software development life cycle. The ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude, demonstrate initiative, and enjoy the challenge of developing structured software solutions for complex environments. The role requires effective prioritization of activities to deliver projects on time and within budget, interfacing with multiple geographically dispersed development teams, and communicating project statuses and barriers. The candidate will also be expected to follow the Agile Development process through full life cycle development, lead independent technical investigations, provide technical advice, recommend solutions, and assist in integrating program functionality into new baselines.
Responsibilities

Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in a STEM program or equivalent work experience.
+ Advanced proficiency in Object-Oriented Design and Programming.
+ Proficiency in writing REST web services.
+ Experience with event and messaging streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ.
+ Proficiency in a variety of database types (SQL, NoSQL, GeoSpatial, etc.).
+ Experience with architecture and design of back-end software applications.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to operate in a team environment.
+ Active Clearance or Ability to obtain a final Secret Clearance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with various IDEs such as VSCode and Netbeans.
+ Experience with JavaScript and Node.js.
+ Experience writing microservices using the Spring Boot framework.
+ Experience with build ecosystems such as Maven, Gradl, and Jenkins.
+ Experience with automated testing tools such as Junit and Selenium.
+ Rudimentary Linux and Windows System Administration skills.
+ Experience with Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
+ Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Command and Control (C2) Systems.
+ Understanding of networking and network troubleshooting.
+ Knowledge of the Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
+ Experience in military intelligence and imagery or strategic planning.
+ Ability to apply mathematical and statistical operations towards software algorithms.
+ Top Secret Security Clearance.
Work Environment
This position is on-site and involves collaboration with a leading defense contractor. The work environment includes using various tools and technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and the Atlassian Suite. The role requires adherence to agile methodologies and a focus on Command and Control (C2) systems, with no local client site involvement.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
