Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a team on a long-term contract basis in Saint Paul, Minnesota. In this role, you will play a vital part in managing and maintaining accurate financial records while supporting various accounting processes. This position requires a commitment to excellence and a collaborative approach to ensure compliance and efficiency in financial operations.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards.

• Reconcile accounts and analyze discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records.

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities to ensure timely reporting.

• Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends and provide insights that support strategic decisions.

• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to guide financial planning.

• Ensure compliance with governmental and internal accounting policies through meticulous documentation and review.

• Collaborate with external auditors by providing necessary reports and supporting documentation.

• Evaluate and enhance internal controls to strengthen organizational financial processes.

• Utilize intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions, to manage data effectively.

• Work onsite three days a week, with Wednesdays as an anchor day, to coordinate with team members.

Requirements • Proven experience in preparing journal entries and managing month-end close processes.

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP and pivot table functions.

• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and corporate tax processes.

• Familiarity with sales tax and corporate tax returns.

• Experience in financial statement preparation and account reconciliation.

• Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights.

• Previous experience in government or public works accounting preferred.

• Knowledge of Infor LN software is a plus but not required.
