Purpose and Scope:
The Disease Mechanism Research team at Astellas West Coast Innovation Center is looking for a passionate and driven individual to join our fast-paced team. This position will support oncology disease mechanism research with a dynamic drug discovery environment. The scientist will apply deep expertise in cell culture and immuno-oncology to advance experimental strategies and data generation. This role will contribute towards efforts of understanding drug and disease mechanisms of action and will require collaboration with internal and external project teams to drive progress towards research milestones. This position will be located on site in South San Francisco.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
+ Perform cell-based assays including cytotoxicity assay and flow cytometry to support the cancer biology research
+ Establishing cell lines from primary tumor tissue
+ Conduct molecular and biochemistry assays including Western Blot, ELISA, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR and qPCR
+ Independently design and execute experiments to generate high-quality and reproducible data to evaluate mechanisms of resistance and action of therapeutic molecules
+ Analyze experimental results using tools such as GraphPad Prism and FlowJo
+ Maintain accurate detailed, and well-organized electronic lab notebooks and experimental records
+ Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and cross-functional groups to support project goals
Qualifications
Required:
+ B.S + 5 years’ experience or M.S. + 3 years’ experience
+ Proficiency in cell culture techniques, Flow cytometry, and nucleic acid/protein analysis assays
+ Demonstrated ability to independently plan and execute experiments with minimal supervision
+ Experience with primary tissue processing and establishment of primary cell culture lines
+ Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in tools such as GraphPad Prism and FlowJo
+ Excellent oral presentation skills
Preferred:
+ Experience with Incucyte live cell imaging assay platform and SONY Cell Sorting platforms
+ Experience with Luminex platform
+ Familiar with next generation sequencing workflow is a plus
Working Environment:
+ This position is based in South San Francisco, CA, USA and requires on-site work.
**Salary Range:** $79,800 – 114,000 (NOTE: Final salary could be more or less, based on experience)
