Responsibilities
Blue Ridge Surgery Center is a fast pace multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) with 6 ORs, and 2 procedure rooms. We are a values-based company which places clinical quality first. The center is a partnership between SCA Health and a group of local physicians.
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Billable Charge Entry Specialist to join our Business Office team. This role is critical to ensuring accurate and complete charge capture for all billable services, supplies, and equipment used during surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will work closely with offsite coding and billing teams, third-party payers, and internal staff to support timely and compliant claim submission.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Review patient charts to identify and validate all billable and reimbursable items.
+ Enter charges into the designated billing platform with accuracy and efficiency.
+ Ensure all equipment, supplies, and services used during procedures are captured for reimbursement.
+ Collaborate with off-site coding and billing teams to ensure accurate charge entry and claim submission.
+ Provide all required chart documentation to offsite billing teammates, including patient medical records and history & physicals (H&Ps).
+ Work the pending case list daily to submit additional operative notes and any other documentation needed to bill out cases.
+ Coordinate with third-party payers such as Evolent/IPG for item-specific reimbursement processes.
+ Support Business Office teammates as needed with coverage:
+ Register patients upon arrival to facility, to include tasks such as verification of patient identity, financial, demographic and insurance information, ensures completion of required paperwork, etc.
+ Medical records management
+ Answering phones and general administrative tasks
+ Sending out arrival time reminders to patients
Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or equivalent preferred
+ Prior experience in medical billing, charge entry, or coding (ambulatory surgery center experience preferred).
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
+ Knowledge of reimbursement processes and third-party payer coordination is a plus.
+ Possess strong initiative to get daily work finished. Ability to adhere to attendance policy.
+ The candidate must be flexible with hours to ensure proper Business Office coverage as needed.
