    JOB SUMMARY

    The Representative Payee will manage the financial affairs of individuals unable to do so themselves, ensuring the proper allocation of funds to meet their basic needs. This role involves maintaining accurate records, adhering to legal regulations, and advocating for beneficiaries when necessary. Collaboration with social workers and healthcare professionals to develop financial plans is essential, promoting the long-term well-being of those you serve. As a fiduciary all decisions should be made in the best interests of the client.

    MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Receive and manage beneficiaries' funds, ensuring timely disbursement.

    + Maintain precise financial records and comprehensive documentation.

    + Ensure strict compliance with federal and state regulations governing payee services.

    + Prepare and submit financial reports to MIT government agencies and other relevant parties.

    + Establish compassionate communication with beneficiaries to understand their needs.

    + Advocate for beneficiaries when addressing financial issues or liaising with service providers.

    + Collaborate with beneficiaries, social workers, and healthcare professionals to develop financial plans.

    + Maintain organized financial records for audits or inquiries.

    + Document interactions with beneficiaries and financial decisions.

    + Address concerns related to beneficiaries' financial well-being.

    + Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

    EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

    Required:

    Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.

     

    2-3 Years experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field.

     

    2-3 Years experience working with vulnerable populations, such as individuals with disabilities or the elderly.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Representative Payees typically work in an office environment.

     

    + Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.

    + Minimal lifting or physical exertion - Occasionally lifts up to 25 lbs.

    + Occasional local travel to meet with beneficiaries or attend training sessions.

    + Continuously uses vision.

    + Frequently talks and listens.

    + Manual dexterity for computer work and routine paperwork.

    + Occasionally walks and reaches with hands and arms.
