Job Description
_Summary:_
This position is geared toward individuals with mechanical testing aptitude and the desire to work in a marketing environment, while providing hands-on testing solutions for our customers. Applications Engineers will be involved in assisting with marketing campaigns, contributing to competitive strategies, improving sales force effectiveness, and providing class-leading support.
_Responsibilities:_
+ Act as the primary Sales Support contact for external and internal sales teams to address sales and technical questions, system configuration recommendations, custom product requests, and customer issues.
+ Attend technical conferences, exhibits, and seminars. Work with local sales teams to build customer relationships.
+ Assist Product and Market Managers with technical tasks. Become subject matter expert for a specific product or market and understand global standards relative to these products and markets.
+ Provide support to Instron’s top customers and the Instron representatives who champion them.
+ Assist with the production of sales tools such as application handbooks, presentations for specific applications, and product videos in accordance with ongoing Marketing campaigns.
+ Generate customer facing application papers and technical notes to enhance Instron’s standing in key market segments.
+ Lead product demonstrations for customers in the field (globally) and at Instron’s Norwood Applications Laboratory.
+ Work with the Instron Business Team to assist with engineering and manufacturing tasks, using business management tools and collaboration with Sales and Engineering to gain an understanding of optimized system configurations, competitive application-specific information, and system proposals.
_Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:_
+ Demonstrated understanding of concepts related to electronics and mechanical systems acquired through a Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience in physics, materials science, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
+ Demonstrated understanding of materials testing practices and technologies.
+ Proficiency with current computer business tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
+ Leverages ITW Toolbox processes such as 80/20 and USa to streamline and improve business processes and products.
+ Works independently and in a team structure.
+ Self-starter who looks for opportunities for self and business improvements without prompting.
+ Aptitude and willingness to work across the organization to meet desired results. Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels in the organization ranging from shop floor personnel to senior management.
+ A positive attitude focused on understanding, anticipating and responding to the needs of our customers, both within and outside of the department and organization.
+ Strong organizational skills to maximize self-productivity under pressure of deadlines and changing priorities.
+ Must possess key leadership qualities, including flexibility and reliability.
_Working Conditions:_
Office and lab environments with little, if any, exposure to adverse conditions
Must be available to travel up to 25% of work time. Some international travel may be required.

Compensation Information:
This position has a starting salary range of $81,000 to $100,000 per year. Pay is determined by several factors, including a candidate’s experience, relevant skills, and qualifications
