    The Creator & Fandom team is building a new frontier of community-driven content for Microsoft’s commercial brands. As an **Principal Ambassador Strategist - Fandom** , you will design and scale programs that activate passionate communities and niche fandoms into content-oriented ambassador initiatives. This role combines long-term relationships with paid creators and organic superfans into a content generation engine powered by community engagement and incentives. You’ll leverage your expertise in community programs, ambassador strategy, and affiliate marketing to create scalable frameworks that connect creators and fans to Microsoft’s commercial priorities in authentic, high-impact ways. Ideal candidates have deep experience in creator ecosystems, affiliate programs, and community activation, with a proven ability to turn engagement into measurable business impact.

     

    Job Location: The primary location for this position is Redmond, WA. Additionally, there are three other locations where this role may be based. Candidates who do not reside in one of these four areas will be relocated to Redmond.

     

    This role is flexible in that you can work up to 50% from home.

    Responsibilities

    + Create and manage community-driven ambassador programs that incentivize long-tail content creation and foster authentic engagement.

    + Propose and execute commercial affiliate programs that complement ambassador initiatives and drive measurable ROI.

    + Work closely with E&E (Engines & Experiences), Community Management, and Creator Strategists to integrate ambassador programs into broader creator campaigns.

    + Develop strategies to activate long-term ambassador relationships within creator communities to scale content output and amplify brand storytelling.

    + Oversee end-to-end execution of ambassador programs, including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and performance tracking.

    + Track, analyze, and report on program performance using data-driven insights to optimize engagement and content output.

    + Stay ahead of cultural trends, fandom behaviors, and platform innovations to inform program evolution.

    + Present program strategies, performance insights, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

    Qualifications

    Required/minimum qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 5+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related work experience OR equivalent experience.

    + 5+ years of experience in community programs, influencer/creator marketing, or affiliate strategy OR equivalent experience.

    + 5+ years of experience designing and scaling ambassador or community programs for enterprise brands

    + 5+ years of experience creating affiliate programs from scratch and integrating into long-term creator campaigns and ambassador initiatives.

    + 5+ years of experience working in creator ecosystems, fandom culture, and social platform dynamics

    + 5+ years experience managing multiple stakeholders, agencies, and timelines in a matrix environment.

    Additional or preferred qualifications

    + Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 3+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 7+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related experience OR equivalent experience.

    + 5+ years experience tracking and analyzing program performance using data and analytics tools.

    + 7+ years experience collaborating with marketing, product, and creative teams in a corporate or agency setting.

    + 7+ years experience storytelling, writing, and presentation experience.

     

    Integrated Marketing IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
