**Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD)** has an immediate opening for a **Temporary Radiological Protection Technician - ALARA** located at **Cooper Nuclear Station** in **Brownville** , Nebraska. Position closes October 25, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.
Position Summary
This position's primary responsibilities are to plan radiological work, develop radiological dose estimates, and track radiological exposures. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that work performed at the station will be completed keeping dose "As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA)."
This position will be assigned to a position within the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) that requires response to the station when an emergency is declared. When that assignment occurs, a condition of continued employment will be the ability to arrive at the station to perform ERO responsibilities within 45 minutes of notification of an emergency.
Education, Training and Experience
Twelve months experience as an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) N18.1-1971 qualified Radiological Protection (RP) Technician, six months of which is at Cooper Nuclear Station (CNS).
OR
Twelve months experience as an ANSI N18.1-1971 qualified RP Technician, six months of which is in ALARA.
Must be able to qualify to the specific employee training plan and proceed through the progression plan developed for this position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
This position requires the following Essential Duties:
Develop detailed radiological work packages which includes assessing radiological risk, developing dose estimates, and providing detailed ALARA critiques. This will at times require the individual to interact with various departments at the station to obtain information needed to complete the work package and to promote radiological work behaviors.
Provide information to station management to help in the development of station dose goals and collective radiation exposure reduction.
Utilize plant planning and scheduling software to obtain radiological and work order information and ensure proper scheduling of radiological work.
Analyze, purchase, plan, and implement shielding applications in support of dose reduction for the station.
Utilize Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to develop radiological work packages, ALARA reports, and presentations.
Support the RP operations program, and as necessary the ERO, through the performance of radiation protection surveys and job coverage.

**Salary Information** _-_ Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.
**Pay Grade -** 14 Hourly
**Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range:** $46.03 - $58.69

Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary listed in posting, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range.
Retirement Savings
NPPD employees may participate in two retirement plan options – a 401(k) plan and a 457(b) plan. Both plans allow for pre-tax or Roth contributions. After the first six months of employment, the 401(k) plan includes a generous matching contribution from NPPD. The five-year vesting period begins on an employee’s hire date. Our retired employees are eligible for retiree healthcare benefits as well as a life benefit paid out to designated beneficiaries upon their passing.
