    Job Summary

    Job Description

    What You'll do:

    As Director of Integrated Resource Planning, you will oversee the development of AEP’s Integrated Resource Plans (IRPs) across all regulated jurisdictions. You’ll lead scenario planning, resource valuation, and cross-functional coordination to ensure AEP’s generation resource portfolio meets evolving market, policy, and customer needs. Your work will directly inform corporate strategy, regulatory filings, and long-term investment decisions. You’ll serve as a thought leader and trusted advisor to senior leadership, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders, helping to position AEP as a forward-thinking, reliable, and sustainable energy provider.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Lead the development of Integrated Resource Plans (IRPs) for AEP’s regulated utilities, aligning with corporate strategy, jurisdictional requirements, and stakeholder expectations.

    + Direct cross-functional teams to evaluate generation resource portfolios, including fossil, renewable, nuclear, storage, and emerging technologies.

    + Oversee scenario development and economic analysis to support resource planning decisions, including fossil plant retirements and new resource procurement.

    + Collaborate with regulatory, generation engineering, project development, economic forecasting, transmission, operations, and finance teams to ensure alignment across business units.

    + Represent IRP strategy in executive discussions and regulatory proceedings, supporting development of expert witness testimony.

    + Monitor and assess the impact of external drivers such as RTO rules, state and federal policy, and market trends on AEP’s planning strategy.

    + Guide the development of planning tools, models, and processes to improve analytical capabilities and decision-making.

    + Support RFP processes and ensure alignment with long-term planning needs.

    + Serve as a subject matter expert and thought leader on resource planning, both internally and externally.

    What We're Looking For:

    Education:

    + Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, Accounting or another applicable field.

    + Preferred:Advanced degree (e.g., MS, MBA).

    Experience:

    + Minimum 10 years’ experience in the utility industry in resource planning, energy strategy, or other areas that directly relate to or significantly overlap with resource planning.

    + Preferred: Experience in regulatory proceedings, including development or delivery of expert witness testimony. Familiarity with RTO markets (e.g., PJM, SPP) and clean energy and storage strategies.

    Compensation Grade:

    Compensation Range:

    $155,761.00-202,490.50 USD
