About the role

As a **Senior Java Developer** , you will make an impact by designing and developing scalable, high-performance applications that support our Cards & Payments domain. You will be a valued member of the **Digital Engineering** team and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that drive business success.

In this role, you will:

+ Lead the development of internet-scale solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and both relational and NoSQL databases.

+ Apply advanced programming techniques including Java 8 features (Lambdas, Streams, Completable Futures), functional and reactive programming.

+ Build asynchronous microservices using Vert.x and REST APIs with Spring Boot (reactive) and OpenAPI specifications.

+ Design optimized database schemas and indexes to enhance performance.

+ Utilize modern engineering tools such as Git workflows, Gradle, load testing tools, and mock frameworks.

+ Integrate messaging systems like Kafka and MQ into application architecture.

+ Work with cloud-native technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, Jaeger, and Prometheus.

+ Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices to ensure code quality and reliability.

What you need to have to be considered:

+ 7–11 years of experience in software engineering, with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, SQL, JavaScript, and MySQL.

+ Proven experience in developing and maintaining complex software systems.

+ Hands-on experience with cloud technologies and container orchestration.

+ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

+ Effective collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.

+ Excellent communication skills to engage with stakeholders.

These will help you stand out:

+ Experience in the **Cards & Payments** domain.

+ Familiarity with One Data (for internal candidates).

+ Proactive approach to learning and adapting to emerging technologies.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
