The HIS Processor II is responsible for the effective coordination, organization and accuracy of information and records of varying levels of complexity. Provides administrative support and coordination, primarily focused on supporting incoming telephone calls and performing medical records (both written and verbal ROI) responsibilities. Operates at a moderate to high level of independence and assists less experience team members.
Functions as a content expert/resource leader/champion in HIS responsibilities.

+ Works in collaboration with the DFCI Longwood based Health Information Services staff to ensure Quality Control of all aspects of the electronic health record processing.
+ Will assist Longwood Health Information Services in its efforts to meet and/or exceed patient, physician and customer expectations at satellite location.
+ Reviews daily visit lists for correct data; checks all electronic charts for any missing documents or recent reports, scans any/all data into the electronic medical record.
+ Reviews daily listing information against existing records for accuracy and completeness, verifies demographics and makes corrections as necessary.
+ Sorts, files, and collates, medical records such as admission slips, lab and pathology reports, and clinical notes and scan all into EMR.
+ Obtains lost or missing records in accordance with established procedures. Communications with hospitals, IT departments, referring physicians, etc.
+ Manages existing paper charts, including scanning and sending to off-site storage facility.
+ Reviews and administers all consent forms, including mailing and scanning into charts
+ Picks up and scans incoming paper data from the front desk and throughout clinic.
+ Manages both incoming and outgoing faxes. Takes corrective action as needed.
+ Provides general institute, disease, or program-specific information to callers/patients within the scope of knowledge and authority.
+ Ensures compliance with DFCI policies and procedures for electronic health information in EPIC.
+ Adheres to standard operating procedures and compliance requirements.
+ Enters telephone encounters in EPIC and routes to the appropriate provider, staff member, etc.
+ May assist with the document preparation for incoming FMLA, Disability, SSA Form requests.
+ Processes incoming and outgoing mail.
+ Perform other duties as requested.
+ Assists in training of new HIS staff
+ Supports patients with the completion of ROI’s etc.
+ Works closely with the ONN’s/providers supporting real time medical documentation needs.
+ Acts as a liaison with HIS Boston to ensure proper processing of medical records and legal requests.
+ High School diploma required. High School Diploma/GED required, Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
+ 3 years’ experience working in a medical setting (Degree may substitute for experience)
+ Extensive knowledge of insurances needed to support patient disability, FMLA requests.
Pay Transparency Statement
The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.
For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
$23.79/hr - $27.35/hr
