Benefits Coordinator

Position Description:

In this role, you will provide guidance to employees on insurance and retirement related benefits according to state guidelines. Work is performed under administrative supervision.

Major/Essential Functions:

Everyday you will provide support and collaborate with other team members, management, and outside agencies to ensure successful utilization of all available benefits by:

+ meeting with employees to discuss benefit options

+ assisting employees with timely enrollment in university benefits

+ providing new hires with information and assisting with the enrollment process

+ keeping records of benefit information provided to employees - making sure records are updated

+ reviewing daily report for discrepancies and ensuring benefit changes are addressed as needed

+ performing data entry of information with internal and external agencies

+ assisting management with the benefit and wellness related activities

Preferred Qualifications:

To be successful in the role, you will:

+ have the ability to function in a fast-paced environment and act with a sense of urgency

+ have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide excellent customer service while remaining diplomatic

+ be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with various levels of the organization and individuals

+ have time management skills in order to meet multiple deadlines

+ be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products

+ ideally have working knowledge of employer benefit and retirement plans, especially the State of Texas plans

The ability to communicate (speak and write) in Spanish is beneficial.
