    About you and this role

     

    Dow has an exciting opportunity for aQuality Control Laboratory Technicianlocated inMarietta, GA.

     

    This opportunity is in the Marietta Systems House, one of 13 operations units in the Global Systems House business. This plant exists to produce polyol and isocyanate blends and pre-polymers for our customer base in North America. The plant is semi-automated and requires the ability to interact with a process control system and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The successful candidate in this position would be an active participant in the day-to-day operations. *The plant reserves the right to change shift assignment based on business needs.

    Responsibilities

    + Test chemical products safely and accurately according to the laboratory procedures.

    + Learn, follow and update/improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

    + Participate on various plant teams (Safety, LORC, etc.).

    + Multi-task and work as part of a team to complete daily activities.

    + The plant operates three shifts: "A" shift from 5:30 am to 2:00 pm, "B" shift from 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm and a night shift from 9:30pm-6:00am. This position is for a rotational shift every 2 weeks between A and B shift Monday through Friday evening shift. *The plant reserves the right to change shift assignment based on business needs.

    + Be willing to cover overtime as needed and occasionally weekends. Overtime may include working temporarily on night shift or doing a work shift that lasts 12 - 14 hours with variable start times.

    + Interfacing with SAP by downloading product specifications, assigning/associating family inspection plans and inspection profiles to NASH products.

    + Titration, GC analysis, LC analysis, NIR, FTIR, and performance testing and basic equipment troubleshooting.

    + Maintain the quality analytical records in LIMS and ECC. This includes maintaining the database production and quality control parameters, logging the data, filing, and disposing of the production records in accordance with Dow policies. Also required is editing the WebEDMS directory to include the Production Records (ODMS requirement).

    + Investigate incoming raw material CoA conflicts and resolve by QM or GPDIS updates.

    + In addition to being capable of performing standard laboratory testing, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining global and local databases.

    Qualifications

    + Must have one or more of the following:

    + Associate’s degree or higher in related field.

    + High School diploma or GED equivalentAND3 or more years of qualitative lab experience.

    + Must be able and willing to work over-time on the weekends, holidays, and nights.

    + Must be able and willing to work a rotating shift. Shift times for this position are:

    + A shift: 5:30am - 2pm

    + B shift: 1:30pm - 10pm

    + A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

     

    Preferred Skills

     

    + Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field.

    + 5 or more years of working experience with laboratory equipment, calibration, and method development for auto-titrators, UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR, GC and HPLC.

    Physical Requirements

    Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

    + Lift, push, and pull.

    + Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting

    + Stand and walk for extended periods of time

    + Work in tight and closed in spaces.

    + Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator.

     

    Your Skills

     

    + Analytical Testing Expertise: Skilled in performing chemical analyses using titration, GC, LC, NIR, FTIR, and performance testing to ensure product quality and compliance.

    + Data Management & Systems Proficiency: Proficient in using SAP, LIMS, and ECC to manage product specifications, inspection plans, and quality records with accuracy and attention to detail.

    + SOP Development & Continuous Improvement: Experienced in following, updating, and improving Standard Operating Procedures to reflect best practices and support operational excellence.

    + Team Collaboration & Shift Flexibility: Effective team player who adapts to rotating shifts, including overtime and weekend coverage, contributing reliably to 24/7 plant operations.

    + Equipment Handling & Method Development: Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, including calibration and method development for auto-titrators, UV-Vis, FTIR, GC, and HPLC.
