Division of Facilities Management - Southern District
The Division of Facilities Management exists to plan, design, construct, operate, maintain and manage the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) facilities and campuses according to all applicable standards in a manner that promotes the CDHS mission of providing a safe, sanitary and effective environment for clients, youth, residents, consumers and staff and enhances the quality of life in CDHS facilities and campuses.
Agencies served are: Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo (CMHHIP), Pueblo Regional Center (PRC), Division of Youth Services (Zeb Pike, Spring Creek and Pueblo Youth Services Center) and the four nursing homes in the southern district. Total Facilities are approximately 2 million sq. ft. at multiple sites in over 110 buildings.
Description of Job
You are required to work at your assigned work location during your scheduled work times.
Please note: Work arrangements are subject to change at any time.
This unit exists to perform Housekeeping and Custodial services to assure that the facilities and client environments are cleaned and maintained according to all applicable regulatory standards, and provides a safe sanitary environment for clients and staff. Meet the facilities needs of the Department of Human Services Southern Region customers while managing available resources to provide a physical environment at the highest quality possible. Additionally, the unit establishes and maintains a pleasant, safe, and sanitary environment for clients, personnel and visitors in the buildings of the Department of Human Services.
This position is unique in that it provides Custodial Services for a wide range of agencies within the Department of Human Services, which include Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo campus, the Division of Youth Corrections and the Division supporting Developmental Disabilities. The position is required to meet and maintain all regulatory requirements set by JCAHO, (Joint Commission for Accrediting Health Organizations), the Colorado Department of Public Health, and other regulatory agencies.
Duties
+ Performs daily cleaning, sanitizing, and servicing of assigned work areas as per schedules and procedures by use of appropriate disinfectant cleaners, chemicals and equipment consisting of sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, and other duties as assigned.
+ The position requires the driving of State vehicles from agency to agency for which we provide services to.
+ Performs daily detail cleaning of assigned area as per schedules and procedures by use of appropriate disinfectant cleaners, chemicals and equipment – consisting of washing walls, doors, frames, sills, windows, baseboards, fixtures, furnishings, ceilings, vents, and light fixtures.
+ Performs weekly project work within all areas including all hard floor and carpet areas.
+ Performs project floor work consisting of buffing, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and sealing of hard floor surfaces, and spot cleaning, shampooing and extracting of carpeted floors by use of appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment.
+ Collects and disposes of trash and biohazard waste by properly containing and transporting to proper disposal locations.
+ The removal of desks, chairs etc., to conduct project floor work in all areas on a weekly basis.
+ Participates in moving of furniture, appliances, equipment, supplies, etc. manually and by use of moving equipment.
+ May need to assist in snow removal when needed.
+ Cleans and services equipment, maintains janitorial closet, supplies, stock levels, and chemical labeling requirements.
+ Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Shift /Job Information:
This is a full-time, in-person, essential position. Shift work may be required. Must be available for and respond to call backs to perform essential and/or emergency services of the agency in a timely manner.
Essential Positions.Positions that perform essential law enforcement, highway maintenance, and other support services directly necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of patients, residents, and inmates of state institutions or state facilities. Employees in essential positions can be only FLSA non exempt and can be required to work unexpected or unusual work hours to perform the essential and/or emergency services of the department without delay and/or without interruption.
Call Back applies when an eligible employee is required to report to work before the start or after the end of a scheduled shift.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have three (3) months of cleaning experience.
Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40/hours per week). Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications. Preferred Qualifications and Competencies:
+ Ability to maintain a set schedule to finish cleaning, maintenance, and other tasks to meet facility needs.
+ Ability to follow set cleaning procedures for various facilities; knowledge of project floor work such as buffing and waxing; ability to maintain cleaning supplies inventory and order new supplies appropriately
+ Ability to identify problematic areas within facilities and clean facilities thoroughly. Able to scrub surfaces, move furniture, shovel snow, and dispose of waste appropriately.
+ Experience cleaning and maintaining facilities (ie. educational institutions, hospitals, long-term care facilities, etc...)
+ Experience sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, as well as performing general dusting and vacuuming within a facility.
+ Experience working with the mental health and/or locked adolescent population.
+ Relevant years of State service should be considered as a preferred qualification to be used to determine the top candidates on the referral list.
Conditions of Employment:
+ All job offers are contingent on a successful physical exam which also includes a lift and range of motion test provided by a designated health care professional, certifying the candidate's ability to perform the essential functions of the position. + A full pre-employment criminal background check will be conducted as part of the selection process as this position is deemed to have direct contact with vulnerable persons. + This position requires State of Colorado residency at the time of application and residency within the state throughout the duration of employment in this position.
+ Must possess a current, valid, non-restricted Colorado driver's license.
+ Out-of-State Driver’s License holders must obtain a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver’s License within 30 days of employment start date.
+ Motor Vehicle Check
+ Must be willing to submit and pass a full background check.
+ Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a document for a medical exemption or a letter for religious exemption.
+ Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
+ Must be available for call back to perform essential and/or emergency services.
+ Must be available for shift work.
+ May be required to work various hours for coverage outside of normal business hours.
+ Use, Handling, or Exposure to hazardous materials:
+ Proximity to moving, mechanical parts,
+ Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.,
+ Exposure to electrical shock, and or
+ Working in high exposed places.
+ Must be willing to travel to different site locations within your assigned region, utilizing a state vehicle.
Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must:
+ Disclose that information on the application.
+ Explain why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify you from the current position.
