Job Summary
Position is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships between Indy Parks and other organizations, including businesses, fraternal / social organizations, educational institutions, and nonprofits. This position is responsible for connecting those organizations with park staff and facilities, coordinating volunteer days, identifying new sponsor and partnership interest, managing, and guiding existing partnerships, keeping accurate records of financial and volunteer contributions, communicating parks-related programs, events, and policy information to interested organizations in close coordination with DPR communications and marketing staff. This role collaborates with the park leadership, City County Councilors, Park Board Members, Parks alliance, and Indy Parks staff to provide support that is in line with the Department’s mission, vision, and objectives. Position requires the knowledge or ability to confirm and follow all established city and departmental policies and procedures. Strong leadership qualities and the ability to communicate and direct high functioning teams are required. Experience with current trends, principles, techniques, and objectives of community relations functions is vital and will be a benchmark for performance. Understanding how and the ability to employ community relations tactics, including information organization, verbal interaction, preparation, and knowledge of basic principles of communication, and public relations, is a must. Work independently with minimal supervision around series of goals, expectations, deadlines, and task assignments on a continual basis. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other City employees, departments, key partners, neighborhood organizations, local businesses, the public and other interested and affected parties. Personal responsibility required to take initiative on achieving excellence, following mission, achieving vision, fiscal prudence, and accepting accountability. Position reports to the Deputy Director Parks Officer.
Position Responsibilities
+ Develops, implements, maintains, and continuously refines an effective community partnerships effort to promote opportunities to donate funds, beautify and enhance park spaces through volunteer efforts, and connect with Indy Parks staff to select projects and park spaces that require assistance
+ Responds to inquiries from partners, staff, and other groups provides information in a timely manner to communications staff and department leadership; timely responds to requests and communicates in a courteous and effective manner
+ Serves as a key point of contact between the Department and internal and external groups
+ Responsible for management of partnerships, sponsorships, local grants that may be obtained related to park improvements and the My City My Park program and Friends groups
+ Represents Indy Parks as needed at public meetings, events, fairs, and expos
+ Coordinates corporate and other volunteer days, in partnership with park managers
+ Plan, budget for, secure needed funding and supplies, and execute Days of Service projects, helping individuals and large groups work on one or more volunteer projects in our city’s parks and greenspaces
+ Plan and execute a creative partnership recognition celebration
+ Assists in developing content for Indy Parks newsletters, PSAs, and other communication channels
+ Must maintain confidentiality at all times

Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Public Relations, Marketing or related field and a minimum of four (4) years of related experience or (8) years of related work experience; and valid driver's license. Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills and show ability to balance multiple tasks and deadline assignments. Demonstrate consistent ability to manage competing interests and resolve situations in a way that supports the mission, vision, and objectives of the department. Must perform a wide and diverse variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy, attentiveness, speed, and professionalism under the constant pressure of time-sensitive deadlines, budgetary constraints, and expectations of high-quality materials and outcomes.
Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications
Supervisory experience strongly desired.
