    DIRECTOR, ART & DESIGN

    ABOUT YOU:

    Are you a creative visionary with strong operational chops? As Director, Art & Design, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary team of designers, art directors, and production artists in delivering high-quality, brand-aligned creative work across multiple business segments. You’re equally passionate about visual storytelling, process optimization, and team development—and you thrive in an environment where design excellence drives business impact. This role blends hands-on creative leadership with strategic oversight of projects, tools, and talent development.

    YOU WILL:

    + Provide creative direction and hands-on leadership. Guide design strategy and contribute to high-visibility projects while maintaining brand consistency and visual excellence.

    + Coach and develop a high-performing team. Manage 10–15 direct reports, providing feedback, setting goals, and leading performance reviews and development plans.

    + Drive operational excellence. Oversee planning, workflow optimization, and resource allocation to ensure on-time, on-budget, high-quality creative delivery.

    + Enhance collaboration across functions. Serve as a strategic creative partner to Marketing, Sales, and Production, contributing to integrated planning and execution.

    + Manage creative infrastructure. Champion tools like Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems and project management platforms to enhance productivity and delivery.

    + Build and manage external partnerships. Source and oversee creative vendors and freelancers to meet capacity or specialized needs.

    + Stay ahead of market trends. Monitor branding, design, and youth market trends to ensure creative work remains fresh, relevant, and competitive.

    + Ensure alignment with production and manufacturing. Apply your deep understanding of apparel, printing, and production processes to streamline design-to-delivery workflows.

    + Typical/expected % of overnight travel: Up to 15-20%

    YOU HAVE:

    + Experience. 10+ years in creative leadership, including experience managing art directors and designers across print, digital, and apparel.

    + Education. A degree in commercial art, design, or advertising and a compelling portfolio demonstrating creative excellence.

    + Industry Knowledge. Strong familiarity with the apparel industry, printing processes, photography, color separation, and manufacturing workflows.

    + Technical Proficiency. Advanced knowledge of Corel, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), CAD software (Rhino, V-Ray, Maya, Gem/Matrix), and embroidery tools (Pulse/Tajima).

    + Strategic Project Management. Proven ability to direct multiple creative programs, allocate resources effectively, and drive cross-functional coordination.

    + Leadership Strength. Skilled in team motivation, delegation, coaching, and handling performance management with fairness and clarity.

    + Process-Oriented Mindset. Ability to streamline workflows and ensure speed-to-market without sacrificing creative quality.

    + System Knowledge. Understanding of Jostens systems, enterprise creative programs (APS, High School/College Championship, Ring Designer, Grad Track, Web), and how design integrates across platforms.

    Our Marketing team leverages digital marketing strategies and tactics focused on schools, independent sales reps, parents, and students to deliver the right message, to the right customer, at the right time. Team members will understand and leverage customer insights through data analysis & testing to then create experiences and relevant content throughout the customer journey and to support our specialized products lines including Yearbooks, Class Rings, Graduation Products, and Professional Sports. Through executing across a variety of consumer touchpoints on jostens.com, social, e-mail and print materials, the team collaborates with internal partners to create relevant and timely marketing campaigns to meet the needs of our customers.
