GENERAL DESCRIPTION OR PURPOSE OF JOB:
Our Production Supervisor is part of a dynamic group of professionals who direct, and coordinate assigned operations within the plant. Responsibilities include meeting plant objectives for quality, quantity, cost and delivery. The incumbent controls the area’s work schedule, quality control, allocation of materials, and equipment. They are responsible for leading and supporting the safety program for the area. The Production Supervisor coordinates production and performance goals, organizes work, and maintains a productive and motivational climate.
This position is responsible for directing workflow, analyzing, and improving work processes, system configuration, providing performance feedback to work teams and providing technical and team training. Incumbents of this role are required to be on call and/or available after hours, to provide their own mobile device, and to distribute their mobile phone number accordingly. Alternatively, individuals may distribute their office phone number if their office phone is set to forward calls to their personal device when they are not physically present.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES – In any job with supervisory responsibilities, the following are an explicit part of the incumbent’s responsibilities and essential functions:
+ Participate in decisions related to the selection, promotion, transfer, pay and discipline of assigned personnel.
+ Clearly communicate job duties and responsibilities to enable individuals to proceed with certainty in the performance of their positions.
+ Monitor the work performance of assigned personnel on a continual basis; conduct effective performance reviews; take corrective action whenever necessary and, where necessary, work with HR Generalists to establish performance improvement plans.
+ Support the development of assigned personnel’s skills and abilities and demonstrate by personal example the desired standards of conduct (Jostens values) and work performance.
+ Identify and resolve skill gaps and succession issues.
+ Administer Company policies with regard to discipline, absenteeism, etc., in a fair and equitable manner, and fully document all incidents and actions taken.
+ Involve assigned HR Generalist on compliance issues such as pay equity, equal opportunity in hiring and promotions, and proper procedures for hiring, terminations, lay-offs, etc.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS: Note that (i) computer literacy and working-level skill with the basic MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer), (ii) good verbal and written communication skills, (iii) good interpersonal skills, and (iv) the ability to work well both individually and in a team environment are default requirements for all Jostens exempt and salaried nonexempt employees.
Required:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Manufacturing and/or related field, or equivalent experience
+ 3 years’ experience in supervision or team lead experience.
+ Ability to cross train into other areas to cover when needed.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
+ Must have a specific ability to learn and Ability to track production information and workflows.
+ PC skills; Microsoft Office experience, Excel, and Teams experience.
+ Experience/ training in working with highly specialized equipment.
+ Proven ability in the area of process analysis and improvement, building and maintaining a positive team atmosphere
+ Ability to manage and lead reports in a constructive and professional manner
+ Coordinating the staffing needs and requirements for all reporting departments
+ Ability to communicate effectively with staff and all levels of management
+ Evaluation of data systems and information flows and simplification
Preferred:
+ Printing experience in a Manufacturing and/or Commercial environment.
+ Basic Knowledge of 5S Methodologies and Lean Manufacturing.
+ Exposure and knowledge of Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Typical/expected % of overnight travel: < 5 % (less than two weeks/year)
CONTACTS AND COMMUNICATIONS:
Internal: Regular contact and communication with supervisors, customer service and employees across multiple departments.
External: Contact with external vendors and suppliers.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB:
• Job is typically performed in a normal office environment or its equivalent.
• Extended hours may be required, in some cases with little or no advance notice.
