The senior global policy analyst II works closely with other U.S. government agencies, particularly the U.S. Treasury, and creates briefings, talking points and other materials for the Board’s governors and senior leaders that promote the Board’s international priorities and bolster the recognition of the Board’s economic and financial expertise. With limited guidance , the senior global policy II analyst conducts coverage of, and analysis on, topical global policy issues, particularly those with relevance to U.S. and international institutions. The senior global policy analyst II formulates agenda topics for international policy discussions during international meetings and visits with foreign officials. The senior global policy analyst II monitors geopolitical events and with limited guidance , analyzes its impacts to the economy and international engagement.  Develops and executes an international engagement strategy. Duties and Responsibilities With limited guidance, conducts periodic studies and projects related to international policy. Provides thought leadership and prepares policy products including issues papers for international meetings to help advance the Board’s position in the international forum. Conducts analysis and research on emerging and recurring international issues/topics at the forefront of U.S. and international institutions. With moderate guidance , identifies relevant issues and trends and draw conclusions through analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.  With limited guidance , creates briefing books, background notes, annotated agendas, talking points, and other materials to prepare members of the Board and other Federal Reserve senior leaders for international meetings. Conducts and mentors more junior staff on research related to internationals issues and policies relevant to the U.S. economy. Devises negotiation strategies for leadership to use with foreign officials on international policies and commitments Builds new and strengthen existing relationships with other central banks, foreign finance ministries, and other official sector contacts.  Briefs governors and senior leadership on international engagements, policy and geopolitical impacts. Contributes to the division’s strategic priorities through research and/or analytical projects. With limited guidance , conducts in-depth financial analysis of complex issues with creativity, independent judgment, and responsibility; recommends new approaches. Position Requirements Overview The United States will assume the G20 presidency in 2026 and the G7 presidency in 2027.  The Board, jointly with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, will have responsibility for the G7 and the G20 Finance Tracks, which are among the primary international forums to bring central bank and treasury officials together across the world’s largest economies to discuss pressing economic challenges, address financial stability risks, and coordinate on global policy issues.  About the Team   The International Engagement and Strategy (IES) section within the International Finance Division supports the Board’s international engagement and promotes the visibility and influence of Board economic and financial expertise in international policy dialogue.  Responsibilities include: developing and executing an international engagement strategy; conducting international policy research and analysis; monitoring global geopolitical developments; coordinating perspective on international policy issues across the Board and System; managing relationships with other central banks and finance ministries; supporting Board staff participation in, and contributions to, relevant working groups at international organizations; and, coordinating international meetings and visitors to the Board.   About the Role   The Global Policy Analyst will provide analysis in support of Federal Reserve Board participation in and hosting of the G20 and G7 meetings, and engagement in other international meetings. The Global Policy Analyst will work closely with other U.S. government agencies, particularly the U.S. Treasury, and will participate in efforts to promote the Board’s visibility, engagement, and influence, in recognition of its economic and financial expertise. The Global Policy Analyst leads and conducts coverage of, and analysis on, topical global policy issues of relevance to international multilateral dialogue. The Global Policy Analyst also coordinates and supports Board Member participation in international engagement, including by providing logistical support, setting agendas, coordinating bilateral meetings, hosting events and visitors, managing readouts and correspondence, and protecting the reputation of the Board by evaluating the background of foreign contacts. Duties and Responsibilities The Senior Global Policy Analyst in IES works independently with limited guidance, as well as with other staff members, and: Coordinates with Treasury and where needed the rest of the U.S. government (NSC, State, other regulatory agencies) to develop and execute on the U.S. strategic G20/G7 vision, priorities and messaging, including managing work plans, setting meeting agendas and coordinating the execution of deliverables. These policy analysts will also work with senior staff to liaise with other G20 participants to secure buy-in and support for the U.S. presidency agenda. Researches and writes outcome documents and other materials across all priorities. In doing so, would take a substantial role in coordinating and tapping expertise across Board staff, U.S. Treasury, the U.S. government, international organizations, and other participants in the G20. Supports principals (Chair, Vice Chair, senior staff) G20/G7 engagement and works with international colleagues across countries to build coalitions and drive progress in support of the Board’s priorities. Specific responsibilities will include preparing background information on issues and briefings for meetings, drafting talking points for principals, writing up notes of meetings, and following up on outcomes. Ensures that the Chair and Vice Chair as heads of the Finance Track are fully supported in their G20/G7 presidency responsibilities, including preparing backgrounders and progress reports ahead of ministerial and deputies meetings; preparing briefing books; drafting talking points and objectives for meetings; providing support during meetings to summarize discussions and next steps. Directs or conducts analysis and research on emerging and recurring international issues/topics at the forefront of U.S. interests and international dialogue. Helps set meeting agendas and draft issues notes and official public communiques. Liaises with Treasury to manage the communique drafting and negotiation process— developing and sharing drafts that incorporate feedback from the G20 community and managing virtual and in-person negotiations. Leads and creates policy products including issues papers for international meetings to help advance the Board’s position and priorities in the international forum. Leads and partakes in coordinating, in conjunction with other Board staff, the logistics of international engagement, including organizing attendance of Board Member and senior staff at international meetings, scheduling of bilateral meetings, and managing correspondence from foreign counterparts. Provides information, analysis, and technical advice to the division's senior staff, Board Members via reports, memoranda, and briefing materials. Protects the reputation of the Board, working, in conjunction with other Board staff, to execute enterprise due diligence procedures for evaluating the authenticity and appropriateness of international interactions, including conducting research on the background of contacts Builds new and strengthens existing relationships with other central banks, foreign finance ministries, and other official sector contacts.  Serves on international working groups and organizations, as appropriate and as needed. Contributes to the division’s strategic priorities through research and/or analytical projects. Delivers presentations to Board Members and senior staff and represents the section as needed in Division, Board, and System committees and/or working groups at international organizations. With limited guidance, conducts in-depth financial and statistical analysis of complex issues with substantial creativity, independent judgment, and responsibility; recommends new approaches. Position Requirements/Qualifications To qualify at the below grade levels, candidates must hold a degree in economics, finance, business administration, international policy/affairs, or related discipline, and have the accompanying minimum years of relevant experience (i.e. Federal Reserve System or other policy institutions), excluding time spent in post-graduate study.   Bachelor’s Master’s FR-27 6 4 FR-28 8 6   A strong sense of collegiality and teamwork is essential. Prior experience with coordination and outreach with international meetings, international organizations, and central banks and other official sector institutions is strongly desired.  Experience with U.S. interagency process related to international economic issues also a plus. Collaboration: demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence individuals with differing priorities and interests. Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills. Analysis: Analyzes a wide variety of complex issues and finds solutions for problems; demonstrates expertise in technical knowledge and analytical ability to interpret and solve technically complex problems. Teamwork: Ability to work well in group settings and to represent the Board’s interests at various working groups and committees of international organizations. Team Lead: Coordinates or leads the work of staff in own and other divisions for projects, may advise and train staff in own and other divisions regarding their roles in these projects.  May oversee assignments and workflow of lower graded staff. This is a two-year term position. The position requires 100% on-site presence at our Downtown Washington, D.C. offices. Travel frequency is up to 25% depending on business needs.
