Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone Orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.
Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.
**Purpose:** Responsible for leading research and development efforts in the areas of digital Orthopaedics surgery. Accountable for building key relationships and acquiring related information regarding new technologies and applications for incorporation into business goals. Influences the company's business, tactical directions, and financial results through sharing technical expertise. Performs complex design analysis and provides input or approval for detailed design specifications, tooling, fabrication, and testing.
You will be responsible for:
+ Provides leadership for new product development teams and participates in discovery, concept and feasibility research.
+ Manage engineering operations, scientific evaluations of new products, technology concepts and development.
+ Approves design specifications, drawings, and protocols as defined in the signature matrix.
+ Partners with affiliated disciplines such as regulatory affairs and clinical affairs to assure adequate design inputs are included.
+ Ensures statistical support for design of experiments, sampling plans, capability assessments, and hypothesis tests.
+ Manages reliability objectives and ensures adherence to assessment plans.
+ Optimizes technical requirements with business considerations such as schedule, cost, and resources to meet both current and future needs.
+ Keeps track of and understands competitors' design strengths and weaknesses.
+ Determines applicability to department goals and presents to management as appropriate.
+ Attends scientific and trade organization meetings and conferences.
+ Obtains information that will benefit the business with respect to innovations in medical care.
+ Prepares and manages department budget and expenditures.
+ Responsible for communicating business-related issues or opportunities to next management level
+ Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.
+ For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
+ Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
+ Performs other duties assigned as needed
Qualifications** **:
+ A minimum of a bachelor’s degree required. Preferably in Electrical Engineering or related field
+ 8+ years of relevant work experience
+ Regulated industry experience required. Medical device industry experience preferred
+ Proficiency utilizing the MS Office 365 tools (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Outlook, SharePoint)
+ Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and handle a varied workload
+ Solid ability to balance changes in scope, resources, and timing on projects while handling risks and maintaining determined focus on customer satisfaction
+ Demonstrated strong leadership, management, and collaboration qualities
20 - 30% travel, including internationally

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$115,000-$195,000
Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees and/or eligible dependents are eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
