Core Responsibilities and Tasks
+ Mentor and train Process Operators to ensure optimal team performance.
+ Comply with all workplace safety and product quality policies and guidelines.
+ Coordinate team activities; set daily expectations for safety, quality, and scheduling.
+ Drive continuous improvement initiatives and conduct housekeeping/5S audits.
+ Issue permits for LOTO, hot work, and confined spaces.
+ Serve as floor supervisor in the absence of the supervisor.
+ Read and follow documented processes closely.
+ Regularly inspect equipment to ensure proper operation throughout the shift.
+ Load and unload deliveries between the plant and regional branches.
+ Operate computers for necessary documentation and recordkeeping.
+ Troubleshoot and perform minor equipment repairs as needed.
+ Adjust and monitor plant operations via control systems.
+ Maintain inspection and inventory of operational tools.
+ Ensure customer needs and expectations are met – both internal and external.
+ Operate area-specific equipment as follows: **Carbon Operations:**
+ Bag products, samples, and tests; label each bag appropriately.
+ Manage spent carbon feed to the reactivation furnace; switch tank feeds as required.
+ Calibrate pH probes, operate filter presses, manage wastewater treatment, calibrate weigh belts.
+ Monitor incoming city water TDS, check POTW discharge parameters, hourly inspect WWTP and log findings. **Regeneration Operations:**
+ Sort bottles by size/type of resin; operate forklifts to move materials.
+ Evacuate bottles, regenerate resin batches, fill and quality test SDI products.
+ Complete quality control documentation.
+ Monitor operational meters, gauges, and pressures.
+ Regenerate resin to replenish mobile de-ionization trailers.
Position Requirements
+ High School Diploma or GED required.
+ Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an industrial setting.
+ Knowledge of chemicals used in regeneration processes.
+ Licensed forklift operator or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
+ Understanding of process flow for carbon/reactivation processes.
+ Must be able to complete mandatory hazardous waste operations training (40-hour) and additional site-specific safety/operator training.
+ Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair process machinery.
+ Strong leadership and communication skills.
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
+ Preferred: Manufacturing/plant experience; experience with 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
Physical Requirements
+ Able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
+ Able to walk, write, and type frequently.
+ Able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
+ Able to climb and descend stairs.
+ Able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull occasionally.
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills.
+ May work indoors and outdoors as needed.
+ Exposure to heat (up to 120°F) and cold (down to 0°F).
+ May require hearing protection due to noise.
+ Exposure to dust, dirt, and concrete work surfaces.
+ Must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
